I have a Dynahoe 490 backhoe. I want to take off one of the pistons because it is leaking, but the 1/2" plug seems a bit big. Why doesnt it fit... Also need a piston rebuild kit

Try to take with you one of the old ones and go to a Wiseco's dealer store.Perhaps you find there.Honda OEM parts does not provide anymore?

If by "disassembling the calipers" you mean splitting them open, DO NOT do that.
You detach the caliper so that you can remove the pads and get at the piston, but then what you should do is to simply pop the piston out.
That can be done simply by pumping the brake pedal, using air pressure (with a rag to prevent the piston from flying around), or with a grease gun.
Then once the piston is out, you simply wire brush any corrosion off. If the piston is so pitted that it can not be made smooth and will leak, then it should be replaced.
If you wash them out with anything other than brake fluid, then be sure to blow out any residue with compressed air.
Use lots of brake assembly lube, and ensure the new dust seal is water tight. Bleeding the brakes will flush out any remaining dust.

if so .....try a hotter range plug
or fit iridium's ..last much longer

which fuse keeps blowing ?

Hi Anonymous, if you have a carbuerator the usual suspects are:
1. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system (gas cap).
2. Inlet system air leak.
3. Vacuum piston malfunction.
4. Accelerator pump leaking or no output.
5. Plugged bowl vent.
6. Fuel level (float chamber) too low.
7. Restriccted fuel supply passages.
8. Plugged jets or passages.
9. Worn or damaged needle or needle jet.
10. Enrichner valve not seated or leaking.

How do I fix a vacum leak on 2002 nissam sentra gxe

You have to find the leak and seal it up, hey. It may help to picture where vacuum originates in the engine: As the pistons move down in the cylinders they pull air in from the intake manifold. This creates a pressure drop in the intake, a vacuum that is maintained as the engine is running. New air that is pulled into the intake is measured by the Mass Air Flow sensor mounted in the big boot between the air filter and the intake. If extra air is pulled into the intake manifold from a vacuum leak, uncalibrated air, the computer can figure it out from the oxygen sensors reading in the exhaust-mixture is too lean, so the computer will try to compensate by delivering more fuel, but can't deliver enough, mix is still too lean, so computer sets a code for the vacuum leak.
The intake will have a few vacuum taps with hoses running to engine or car controls that require vacuum to operate. If one of the hoses comes off or has a leak, that is extra air into the intake. Your power brake booster has a large vacuum tap. That may be the problem. With the engine running, pull off that line and plug it, and see if engine speed changes. If the idle drops that may be your leak-a failed power brake booster.
If nothing yet, keep engine running and spray some starting fluid around the mounting area of the intake manifold (maybe the intake gasket has failed and sprung a leak) and listen for a change in engine pitch or speed. The fluid may get sucked into the intake and cause speed to change. If it does, you would need to remove the intake manifold and fit a new manifold gasket.
Also check the big boot from the air filter to the throttle body for tears or loose fit. Good luck, Rev!

There are two types of regulators used. One has a rubber diaphram sealed at perimeter with body and a piston type. Most likely you have the piston type. Remove body containing piston/ spring mech. Examine piston lip seal. Lip will face toward body of reg. and must fit snugly into cylinder. Make sure cylinder is smooth and is well lubed.
If seal/piston fits loose remove seal and wrap some teflon tape in groove and re-install lip seal /test for snug fit. Notice small metal actuator extending from center of reg. , if it is circular (about 1/8 dia) then there should be an oring of the same size mated/fit into the piston. If this oring is missing it will leak as you describe. Lastly, there should be a gasket or oring sealing outer shell to body. If you have diaphragm type look for holes, tear or shrink too small. Parts are at or Lowes in the plumbing department good place for orings and silicone lube. Good luck

with # 1 piston (front piston on drivers side) on tdc compression stroke place distributor in pointing at the front of the drivers front tire as it drops in it should point roughly at the # 1 piston as it rotates clockwise as it drops in , the cam gears have to mesh so dont force it . if it wont drop into place try a small bump of the starter while applying light pressure down on the should drop into place and then lock it down a bit . get #1 piston back on tdc compression stroke make sure the power wire is off the dist . the big red dont want it having spark yet. if it goes into place then set your cap and wires back in and time it with timing light .remove vacum hose from vacum can on side of dist and plug the hose off then use timing light and set to what factory says , usually between 4-8 degrees btdc. 1-3-5-7 piston numbers front to back drivers side ///// 2-4-6-8 front to back on pass side firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 and the dist should have #1 pointing at the drivers front corner of engine. start # 1 plug wire there and work clockwise next spot clockwise on dist is #8 plug wire and so on.. good luck

If it had long bolts running through it from end to end it has O seals for sure and can be fixed - but do it on the bench in the clean and dry as there will be all sorts of bits come out as well .
If no long bolts its just the ones round the spools under the lever covers .

Tips on changing plugs for the first time

I have never changed the plugs on this type of bike but here is a rough idea for you.

1. Remove the fuel tank making sure you dont spill any fuel
2. Remove the Airbox
3. Number up the plug leads (mark them numbers 1-4) making sure you dont get them mixed up i.e no.1 lead resembles piston no.1, no.2 lead resembles piston no.2 piston and so on
4. Remove the spark plugs with a correct size spark plug socket

5. Before installing the new spark plugs make sure you have made the right gap clearence on the tip of the plug
6. Install the spark plugs
7. Re-fit the leads making sure the correct marked up lead goes with the correct piston
8. Fit the airbox
9. Fit the fuel tank

Hope this is help to you. If you are in doubt then take the bike to a nearby mechanic in which i should imagine that it is not expensive to have them fitted professionly

Dell Precision 490 constant reboot after ghost image completed


I figured out how to ghost a Dell Precision 490 with a 32 bit Windows XP Image! Like you I had the same problem where it would constantly reboot after I imaged it with an existing 490 image. The answer is actually very simple. Boot up your Precision 490 and hit F2 to enter the bios. Select Drives and then SATA Operation, change it to "Raid Autodetect / ATA". Reboot the 490 and re image the machine, it will now work!
