the float is not what needs cleaning.. its the needle and seat that the float controls that needs cleaning.. this is what regulates the flow of gas into the carburetor float bowl.. -- #32 on this exploded view.. http://www.carbparts.com/mikuni/vm18_144.gif
Here is a source for the exploded views. Enter your model number as "PPB430VS" and chose your type number. This type number is the last of the serial number after the dash.
Sounds like you still have some kind of fastener in there. Be careful. It also sounds like the slide is exposed and perhaps what ever it is covering can't be fully seen. I would try to google an exploded view. If you can't find one see if you can buy a new carburetor kit. if you have taken it all apart you should replace all the gaskets and "O"rings anyway, even if the carb was never installed. Are you using carburetor cleaner? if you are you may have caused some of the O rings to swell. A new carburetor kit will come with a detailed exploded view. If there is something holding it, you will be able to see it.
Best of luck

3949247 is the actual part number for that lid switch, and you won't find a blow out of the thing taken apart because its a molded part and not designed to come apart/
Hi,
Go to this site. www.ereplacementparts.com
Look up your gun, they have parts for it there...
They also will have an exploded diagram of your gun so you can see how it goes together.
Hi,
I tried to find your specific number but had no luck. I did find a manual for 917-372850
The link below is the manual. Page 4 is the exploded view of the drive... I'm hoping it is similar to yours.
