Unfortunately there is no way to recover a gmail account unless you know what your username was. Perhaps if you emailed a friend or relative from that account they may still have the email and can tell you what your username is.
However, if you have no luck with that idea, then honestly the best answer to this is to just start another gmail account and be certain to write your username and password down in a safe place where you will remember where it is if you need it again.
One more tip - if you forget just your password, then ask yourself what password you WOULD use for that account, and then try that. That sometimes actually works! Lastly, when you do make your gmail account, make sure you set up account recovery (provide a recovery email address and/or a cell phone number) in the case that you really can't remember your password.
