Question about HP iPAQ H5455 Pocket PC

Unwanted hard resets

Every time I turn on my PPC, it has completed a hard reset and I've lost all of my info. It also does this when I swap out batteries. I bought an extended life battery and it still does this. I've tried carrying it in a case so no buttons get pushed or battery doesn't get drained, but, without notice, the device has completed a hard reset and I've lost games, dates, meetings, notes, etc. I tried backing up all of my data before an important trip and, before I flew out of the airport, I checked my data... a hard backup had occured

You have to send it in for service, there noting else we can do. well you can try a hard reset yourself but as its most likely a hardware problem it wont change anything

Just hold down the calendar and today buttons, these are the two outer buttons on the lower left and lower right, then using a stylus press and hold for at least ten seconds the soft reset button this is located on the lower right edge of the unit. The screen should reset and the iPAQ will boot up again.

You will have to open up the PDA case and take out internal battery (round one). It might just need to be replace or resitted. Next time, backup your data to a memory card.

Soft & Hard Reset

Correct, a hard reset restores the PPC to its origional state. Soft resets are similar to rebooting your desktop computer. You can backup your device with either ActiveSync or the included utility. I don't have a device so I can't give you exact steps, but I believe what you are seeing is where the device will store the backup. You have to put it on a storage card in most cases, not back on the device.
