"Replace Drum" message won't go away

The machine was beeping and the replace drum message was showing, so I replaced the drum and cartridge with new ones. Message came back within an hour, along with the beeping. Tried a known good drum from another machine, and the message won't go away. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Xerox 4250 photoreceptor error

I have a Xerox 4250. After the ink cartridge ran out I replaced it with a new one and got the "replace photoreceptor cartridge" message. Reinserted the cartridge and it stayed. Called Xerox and they couldn't explain. I turned the machine off and on and the message changed to "replace photoreceptor cartridge" but an additional message of replace Smart Drum came up. I replaced the Smart Drum and it is working fine now. Note: I really don't think it was time to replace the Smart Drum. But the nearest authorized service provider was 3.5 hours away and this had to be cheaper than a service call from that distance.

Alarm says replace drum soon. Can the message be

The "replace drum soon" indicater is a warning for you to have a new replacement drum "on-hand". Soon the display will change to "REPLACE DRUM" AT WHICH TIME THE UNIT WILL STOP PRINTING.
When the new drum cartridge is then installed...the REPLACE DRUM indicator will be reset. DO NOT replace the drum before the machine says to.

Replace Drum message does not go away after new drum installed

On these machines some have a maintance menu to tell it you put a new cartridge in it. Others have a small card in the box itself. Most times these cards are lost or not installed at the manufacture site.
Look in the box if the instructions say insert the card on the side of the machine.
If this has been applyed and still says replace drum, sometimes the reader is not working, and needs to be replaced.
If you have a menu, find the menu seleciton and go to maintance area, there it should provide with a "New Drum Installed", you should be able to select "Yes" or "No".
Do not reinstall the old cartrdge, this can cause the chip on the drum modual to "End its Life."
If all else fails, call your machine service representative vendor for the solution to this problem. This might need to have the main ciruit board and copy cartridge to be replaced at the same time.
Good luck.

Our xerox M118 showing an error"replace drum cartridge'can any one help me?Plizzz

Hello, Your Xerox has two cartridges - one is the drum cartridge and the other is a toner cartridge. Please check the following I've researched from your user guide:

Replacing the Drum Cartridge
The drum cartridge is a customer replaceable unit. After approximately 55,000 copies/
prints, the machine will display a warning message before the drum reaches the end of
life. Order a replacement cartridge now to insure continuous operation.

Country Part Number for the drum cartridge replacement
All countries 13R589

Removing the Old Drum Cartridge
1. Pull the front cover towards you to open it.
2. Open Tray 5 (bypass tray) if necessary, and then open Cover A while lifting up
the release lever.
3. Lift up the colored lever, and slide the drum cartridge out until you can lift the
handle on top of the cartridge.
4. Hold the handle and remove the cartridge from the machine.
NOTE: When replacing the drum cartridge, make sure that the new cartridge is the
correct one specified for the machine.

Recycling the Drum Cartridge
The drum cartridge is designed to be re-manufactured. To recycle used drum
cartridges, return them to Xerox in the original packaging. Return labels are included
with each new cartridge.

Inserting the New Drum Cartridge
1. Remove the new drum cartridge from the box.
2. Undo the sealing tape and carefully pull out in the direction of the arrow to
remove the black protective sheet from the cartridge.
3. Place the cartridge in position and, using the handle, slide it into the
machine until it clicks.
4. Pull out the cartridge tape completely without breaking it.
5. Push the cartridge again so that it is correctly placed.
6. Close Cover A until it latches and then close Tray 5 (bypass tray).
7. Close the front cover.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
