With modern batteries, there is no "memory effect" so it does not hurt the battery to keep it charged. The life of the battery will depend mostly on the total number of hours of use.

I respectfully disagree, "Topping up" the 96H NiCd batteries after each use will decondition the batteries and shorten their useful life. To maximize battery life, allow them to drain after multiple uses to the point that the motor noticably sags. Then recharge for 12-14 hours and remove from charger for re-use.

My vacuum won't turn on or charge. How can I fix this?

Find an electrical tester and see if the charger is charging when it is plugged in.
If the charger is charging, there is a rechargeable battery inside your vacuum, which may have "died".
That battery may or may not be replaceable.
God bless your efforts.

Why does roomba keep docking?

It needs to recharge every time it docks.

I would suggest that you let Roomba run out of the room where it's charger is. Then force it to run until it dies out. Then put it back onto it's charger.. I suspect that it's developed a memory (short) for charging and you need to force it to totally drain down, then charge for a good while. This should force it to develop a "Longer" memory. Works for me anyway.

Why roomba clean for 2 minutes then returns to dock?

I suspect the battery is about dead. It keeps coming back for more power.

Run it away from it's charger, force it to run until it dies. Put it onto it's charger and let it charge a long time (Solid green light). Then run it again till it dies and repeat. This will perhaps force the battery to develop a longer memory

Hi, my Dyson DC16 works fine but after removing from charge base following recharge the red and green lights remain lit and the unit will not operate until i remove the battery and reconnect to vacuum,this...

If it is within the warranty period get Dyson to replace it. If not, live with it until it fails completely, then buy a Hoover. Your computer board is starting to fail. That's not repairable.

Can this be left charging all the time when it is not being used or do we need to wait until it is fully run down before we charge it?

It is always best to run the battery down and then recharge it. Over a certain amount of charges (different circumstances for different brands) you will find that you have longer battery life.

How long i have to charge my Euro-Pro Shark

mcdevito75 here, I believe a full charge would be 4--6 hours, but wait until battery needs the charge, to charge a battery with an already half charge or better could shorten battery life.

Roomba Schedular

Let it charge for a full 24, or even 48 hours, regardless of the green light. If it still dies you probably need a new battery.. or worse.
