May be looking for a firmware update disk. Try looking on the panasonic website for firmware updates for this unit. Burn the file to a disk and put it in the machine and let it load.
Most DVD players display that kind of error when unable to read data on you disc media. Try other DVD disc if that post the same problem. A new one will test if it is the unit problem or the media disc problem. If it post the same problem on a disc that runs well on other players then your player probably has a dirty lens. You can clean the lens using commercially available DVD lens cleaner on the market.
If the disc loads up and you can hear it spin, then you get the error, more than likely the optical lens has been damaged. This will have to be repaired by a local shop if its worth the cost. if the part is available it would probably run anywhere from 130-165 to repair
I have the same problem. When I insert a disk, my NAD T 550 DVD player displays 'No Disc'. It started with new disks while still reading older disks, but at some time it stopped recognizing any disk. Did you receive any suggestion yet or has anyone a suggestion?
had the same LD FVU (Load FVU or firmware disc) message and fixed it this way: download firmware from http://www.pasctraining.panasonic.com/specialapplications/productfirmwaredownloads/DVD.ASP and make firmware disc and insert. After it loads and updates, you need to activate your remote again. When the message SET 1 appears, on the remote press ENTER and 1 together for 10 seconds. Done.
Most likely the dvd is dirty, scratched, or chipped. Try cleaning the dvd disk with a soft cloth (chamois works best). Look at the surface of the disk and if it is scratched lightly, dust and dirt particles, fingerprints, etc will cause refractions from the laser light in the dvd player, which is then read as an error by the dvd player. Cleaning it with a soft cloth will sometimes help.
If that does not work, hold the disk up towards a light source and look for light coming through from the other side. If this happens, the disk is unreadable and unrepairable as the data source has been corrupted.
Had similar problem. Found the disk was not rotating. Adjusted the torque on the hold down screws of the drive unit allowed the disk to spin. Still had some motor noise, but DVD would load.
