SOURCE: Cannot sight in riflescope for elevation, adjustment is maxed out

Try reversing the rings. Move the back one to the front, and the front one to the back. Turn your elevation adjustment, back to -0-, and start again.

SOURCE: My Weaver Classic riflescope is maxxed out for elevation

I don't think the tube holding the cross hairs will go up that high, and shimming the front base, I don't know. What you need is a new cross hair with the dots below the cross, They will raise your line of sight past the 350 zero. Or,,,,, just put the cross at the top of your target, 600 yards without the right scope is a long shot. I hope you have a heavy barrel target rifle in 308 or bigger. My M42 is unbelievable, but, It will shoot better than me all day long and I rarely go over 200 yards. I tried the 600 yard line once, didn't like it. Oh I could hit the target, but I like hitting doorknobs at 200 yards better. What are you shooting anyway? I hope your not trying to stretch out a 223 to the max.

SOURCE: Adjusting Range on Redfield Scope

There should be a set screw or screw that you can loosen to make that adjustment. Once you have it where you like it, just tighten it back up and enjoy you ability to make those quick adjustments when needed.

What size rings do I need to mount a weaver 6x38 rifle scope

Measure the diameter of the scope just in front of or behind the windage/elevation turrets. If it's 1 in. in diameter, you need 1 inch rings. The size of your scope tube determines the size of the rings you need.

Put "Weaver scope caps" in the search box at eBay. You should find some listed. Also, Iron Sight Inc. repairs Weaver scopes, you might try them.

Sight in rifle and put the on top turret with zero facing back.do not let knob"click".Aim at animal and adjust power(3-9etc)until body is bracketed by both crosshairs.Look in little window in eyepiece for type of animal.Click top turret to proper yardage(200,300etc).This allows for bullet drop.I've had one on a .270 for 30 yrs and never used this feature.

You can get a base line by bore sighting the scope. Bore sight kits are a bit pricy, might be best to take it to a gun range an start at 15 yards shoot a few move out to 25 the 50 then 100. Yes your scope should be sighted for one gun one round, with a cold barrel. Let it cool between shots.

On scope adjustment my older weaver 3x9 micro trac dosent have clicks just marks on the dial how much change in 1 mark movementscope is about 20 years old

Most of the older type scopes were rated at 4 clicks per inch at 100 meters. But to be sure you will have to test it. I generally do that at a 50 meter range and then it is 4 clicks per half inch.
