Make sure the bobbin turns anti clockwise in the bobbin case, adjust the screw clockwise a quarter of a turn at a time until you can just pull the thread through with slight resistence, top tension about 4 or 5

SOURCE: Ellure product manual

That machine comes with a pink dot auxilary bobbin case with a pink dot. This bobbin case has an additional gram pull of 7-9 grams, for use of bobbin thread other than the finishing touch brand that is suggested for this model. You can also go to page 4 of the control setting page and reduce the default the embroidery tension setting.

SOURCE: Not picking up the Bobbin thread

I cleaned the machine good with canned air, oiled it. I took out the bobbin case and cleaned it good also. I then noticed the tension screw on the bobbin case was loose, tightened it and the problem was fixed.

SOURCE: Not picking up the Bobbin thread

Sounds like you have to take off the throat plate and clean out threads under it.  Sometime they ball up and prevent the needle from going down and catching the bobbin thread. You can't see themuntil you take off the plate.  Follow the directions.  It is easy.

SOURCE: tons of loops of thread on back

Make sure that, with the darning foot installed, that you LOWER the presser foot lever. It won't look like it went down, but the lever must be down for the tension to engage.

Set the upper thread tension to 7 or wherever it needs to be right. Don't be afraid to change the numbers, they are there for reference.

SOURCE: bobbin thread tangling up

are you doing embroidery? if so turn off jump stitch cutting if possible. is the machine threaded correctly (pull needle thread out of machine and thread again with presser foot raised.

check for foreign matter in needle tension assembly. ensure there is sufficient needle thread tension.

the thread you see caught up underneath the fabric will be needle thread and indicates insufficient needle thread tension or something preventing the needle thread from being pulled up into the fabric (maybe a damaged bobbin case, or bobbin case position finger, or damaged needle plate hole).

goodluck,
scott

How to adjust lower tension bottom bobbin elna junior sewing machine passap?

On any machine, the lower - bobbin tension is adjusted with a small screw driver, used on the very small screw on the side of the bobbin. "Righty, tighty, Lefty - Loosy." If you stitch an inch of fabric, and the bottom loops come up, then... tighten the bobbin holder. If the loops pull down, loosten it.

How to adjust bottom thread tension on my CE-5000 sewing machine

Unfortunately, the manual for your machine describes adjusting only the top thread tension.

Brother CE 5000PRW Operation Manual Troubleshooting

If you look closely at the area where the bobbin is installed and threaded, there is probably a little screw that adjusts the tension spring. That may be where the bobbin tension is adjusted. Beware though that a tiny adjustment could make a huge difference, so be sure to always mark where the screw was positioned before making any changes.

Another thing you can try is ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread. Sometimes the top thread tension is an issue but appears on the bobbin side of the fabric.

I notice the thread from the bobbin is loser than the one coming directly from the spool. Also, one side of the stitching seems normal and the other side seems like a long single stitch

That is tension. Sounds like you need to tighten the upper tension slightly to bring the bobbin thread up. The tension is correct when the upper and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric. Also, tension will not always be constant. It may need to change as you change fabrics, thread, and as your machine ages, so it is best to get comfortable with adjusting the tension for each project.

The thread is loose at bottom

When the bobbin thread shows on the right side, the needle tension is too tight or the bobbin thread, too loose, as shown in the middle drawing at right. Upside down stitching

Am having a difficult time picturing this. Sounds like the upper thread is creating loops under the fabric and the bobbin thread is showing on the top of the fabric.

Make sure to use a brand new needle.

Remove the thread from the machine
ALWAYS raise the presser foot and rethread the upper thread.
Make sure the thread path is correct.

Check that the bobbin is turning the correct direction in the bobbin case and the bobbin thread is threaded through the bobbin tension correctly.

Set the upper tension to the midway point (factory standard), however, this setting may need to be tweaked for your particular machine.

Bring the bobbin to the top of the project Before beginning to stitch.
How and Why to Bring up the Bobbin Thread

Retest--begin sewing slowly.

If the upper thread is still showing on the other side of the fabric, the tension is too loose. If it is pulling the bobbin thread up to the top of the fabric, the upper tension is too tight

OR the bobbin thread tension is too loose. (CAUTION: make only small adjustments to bobbin tension--1/8 of a turn at a time!!! It also helps to mark the screw groove location with magic marker on the bobbin case BEFORE making any changes so you can back it out and return to the original setting.)

I have Bernia 180. The bottom thread is puckering. Top thread is perfect. I cannot find help in manual. Please help

Check that the bobbin is inserted turning the proper direction in the bobbin case and that the thread is threaded correctly through the tension control on the bobbin case.

Make sure the upper thread is threaded correctly. The factory standard upper tension setting is midway between high & lower number although this may need to be tweaked for your particular machine.

If the machine is still pulling the bobbin thread too tight, you can try tightening the upper thread tension. If it still isn't resolved, you may need to loosen the bobbin tension.

You might also want to check the presser foot pressure on your machine. That generally needs adjustment when changing from thicker to thinner fabric and vice versa.

My White 5500 sews perfectly on the top, but the bottom thread is tangled and messy. I have tried to adjust the tension according to the manual but nothing seems to work. Help!

This is a really common problem especially on side bobbin machines, and the manual will tell you it's a tension problem but it's often a more general thread feeding problem. First make sure you have a good quality thread that isn't old or sticking as it comes off the spool. And more important it can't be too heavy, especially in certain fabrics and with a fine needle. A too heavy thread will cause all the problems you describe.
If your machine uses a bobbin holder and it has a tensioner in it make sure it's clean and well adjusted and has no gummy residue on it. And finally look at the bobbins themselves, I understand older machines work better with metal bobbins vs plastic.
These are very generic solutions but I had similar befuddling problems with a newer Brother side bobbin machine and was tearing my hair out over the thread bunching and Brother support kept insisting it was a tension problem or improper thread routing.
Turned out I was using too heavy a thread.
Since then I picked up an older (1990?) Singer Meritt 4530 from Goodwill for $20, but it's a more expensive top bobbin machine and NEVER bunches or malfunctions. I'm sold on the top bobbin design now, the mechanism inside is more complex but the thread feed from the bobbin is more direct and simple leading to less sewing issues. So you pay more for less headaches.

I need to know how to adjust the bobbin tension on my euro-prox sewing machine.

There is a tiny screw on the side of the bobbin case.

Mark the **** (in the screw head) position on the bobbin case with tiny dab of nail polish so you will know where the original setting was.

Left/loose and right/tight.

If you are adjusting because the bottom stitching is loose/loopy, first try threading the machine with the presser foot up to see if this solves the problem.

I am using a satin stitch to applique. The tension is incorrect. I have placed a different colour thread in the top and bobbin, the top thread is appearing only as a single thread through the bottom...

You need to tighten the tension on the bobbin thread as it is too loose and is being pulled through by the tension on the top which is probably correct. First check that the bobbin is in correct. I know it's frustrating but even after 40 yr it's where I start if it's all in right then tighten the screw on the bobbin case a little at a time till you get it to the right tension. The thread coming out of the bobbin case should take a pull for thread to come out if you hold the thread and turn loose of the bobbin case and the thread unwinds like a yo-yo it's to loose. The bobbin should stay in the case wile you test it this way.
