could be the r/c.the remotes are very powerful,take it into the next room and try again.maybe the volume down button on the units keypad is stuck down or faulty.

Remove glass doors,black panels 8 screws lift up cd clamper and detatch from drive bar at top l/h corner.Lift operating panel to gain access to cable connector behind keypad,this should provide enough room to work on lamps.

You have to look up in the manual which way the two arrows on the underside of the unit are pointing when the CD player is located on the far right. The arrows are screw heads which appear in two holes on the underside. If, for instance, you are playing the unit lying flat on a shelf or table top, if you flip it up and forward to get at the arrows, the two arrows should both be pointing left. If you are mounting it on a wall, it's a different arrow combination. I had the problem you describe and this fixed it for me.

IF THE DOOR SHUTS AND THE LASER ARM MOVES THE MOST LIKELY FAULT IS C2103 ON THE SERVO PCB.MAKE SURE THE CD IS CLAMPED PROPERLY BY THE CENTRAL HUB SPRING.
