Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have replaced the belt on my white knight cl447 tumble dryer and put all the pieces back together, the drum is now spinning, however there is a scraping sound coming from it. I think it may be from the back panel as I removed that when changing the belt. Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed?

There isn't any felt there, I just read a solution to a problem on another post and it suggested a new rear bearing kit was the answer, thanks for the suggestion.

SOURCE: hotpoint tumble dryer is making

This sound is caused by the drum tilting towards the rear panel just above the heating element housing and is due to the drum spindle wearing through the bearing. (Which can lead to it shearing off) after it`s cut it `s way into the bearing support bracket. A new rear bearing kit is needed. it will come with a foam support which is stuck on to the inside of the back panel as the drum rests against this when turning. the foam support on your dryer may have perished or gone flat due to the heat from the element and that is why your hearing the scaping sound. new foam ring from the bearng kit will cure the scraping.

Ive changed the belt on my white knight tumble dryer CL 372 once put back together the drum won't turn and makes a loud noise

There are two do-nut shaped rollers that the tumbler rests on located behind the tumbler. One or both could be bad. Some models have a single "axle" in the center of the tumbler that may be causing the problem.

White knight gas tumble dryer

On most clothes dryers, whether gas or electric, the drum is rotated by a belt, which runs off a motor. The most common reason for it not to tumble is that the belt has broken.Someone needs to replace that belt. If, however, when you start it up , you do not hear a humming sound whilst pressing your ear to the top of the machine, the motor itself may not be turning, which could also be the problem. Be blessed.

How do i fit a new belt to my white knight cl447 wv dryer

Pop the top (spring clips) remove the front - use care with the wires. Find the belt tensioner on the floor of the dryer. Do a complete cleaning of the inside. Put the new belt around the drum get an assistant to help you hold the drum while you thread the belt through the tensioner and place the tensioner in the tensioner holder slots sin the floor. Put the front back on, snap the top back down.

Allow 2 hours for this job.
