There should be an air bleed valve at the pump. If not check or loosen the filter top to get the air out then start the pump after tightening the failter.

Pool pump problem: Cavitation sound in spite of no blockages in suction lines. Replaced many parts and replumbed with no success.

me id make a temporary suction line that could be dropped right in the pool (half union, suction hose with brick tied on end) this would easy test the underground pipes/valves for any spider cracks (air inlets) observe the output using the ole pump if no improvement then sorry that ole pumps gotta go

frequently on old installs I find that winter weather wasn't so kind to the plastic pipes and they develop spider cracks(tiny ) this provides a path to suck air into line

Polaris 9300 Sport Robotic Pool Cleaner stops in water after running about 10 seconds.

Check your pool cleaners filter screen in the in-line filter system and make sure that it is clear of debris. Also check the skimmer, basket, pump basket, and pool filter to make sure that they don't have anything blocking suction. A loss of suction would definitely make the cleaner stop moving. Make sure that your hoses and connections do not have leaks that could be causing air to to escape.

When the pump turns off dirty water "belches" back

Thank you for posting your question here on

You may have a combination of problems. If there is air in the filter then when you shut it off this air expands and forces it out the skimmer. This is made worse if the filter needs to be cleaned or the return to the pool is restricted in some way. To reduce the amount of air that is in the filter any suction leak should be corrected and the air relief port(if it has one) inside the filter should be cleaned. Sometimes this is called the sock or screen, etc. I hope this helps.

My sand filter no prime new motor above ground pool

Thank you for posting your question here on

The most common causes of no prime are that the filter pot is not filled with water (don't forget to put the cover with a gasket on), there is an air leak in the pipes/valves between the pump and the pool, a plug of leaves or other debris in the suction line, or the pump is installed so high in elevation relative to the pool that just a little of the above issues will prevent it from priming. I hope this helps.

WWas working just fine then hooked up vaccum and cleaned pool now the skimmer does not have any suction-- water blows out other side just fine and I have gotten all air out of lines--- any ideas

Depending on how much you vacuumed, your filter may just need to be cleaned. The filter on these units are not very big, so they can get dirty fast. Make sure it is cleaned out. Make sure skimmer basket is not clogged up, and make sure none of the flexible hoses are crimped. Also make sure there isn't anything stuck in the impeller. A stick, twig, or piece of toy, etc, can get stuck and cause low flow. Check for leaks between the suction side of the pump and the pool skimmer. One more think you might want to check is for leaks on the suction side while equipment is off. a leak here will let air into system and effect flow.

I have a 15x48 intex metal frame pool with a 637 pump that uses A cartridges. I have cleaned out the filter and the skimmer and after hooking everything back up and bleeding air out of the lines I plugged...

if the system is consistently blowing air into the pool in large quantity, you most likely have a suction side leak that is allowing the pump to **** in air and return it back to the pool. try shutting the system off and inspect the suction side for any water leaks, that should lead you to any air leaks on the suction side. try turning the pump on and off a few times to catch any water spurting out of the suction side. Also, make sure the skimmer is now enough to not create a vortex and **** in air as well. Hope this helps.

Pump won't **** when attach the hose

Its very possible that it is not a problem with the pool pump, but a problem with the conncetion to the vacuum hose. If you are losing pressure only when you vacuum, make sure that your connection is secure and you have no holes, cracks, etc. in your line. If you think that there are definate pool pump problems, check for the following problems.

1) Clogged or restricted strainer or suction line

2) Plugged or restricted discharge line of filter (high

discharge gauge reading).

3) Air leak in suction (bubbles issuing from return fittings).

4) Pump operating underspeed (low voltage).

5) Plugged or restricted impeller.

Hi my name is Juan and I was a pool tech in california now located in georgia and let me try solve this if your filter is dirty it created a high pressure in your filter gauge with poor suction to check this bypass the filter and see if suction increase sometimes your gauge is bad and is not showing the true reading but if is good and pressure is to low then is so clear you have a suction leak try to replace the pump lid O ring and if you have spa check the intake valve where you select pool or spa if you don't have spa then the air leak is in the pipe connected to the pump suction side believe me this is a common problem
