Question about CD Players
My friend ask me to help him get his cd to open because it was stuck and on the lcd display it would say release. well i open it to try to unjam the cd carriage , to get to cds there is a metel covering on top, i unscrewed the the cover but i guess that some how the metal touched the the bottom of the elctontronic componets on the broad and now i dont have any power. you see happen because it plug in but the power was turned off thats, since i didn't see any light on the display i assumed my friend had unpluged but to my surprise he had not unplugged and since he had already started taking the screws off i assumed it was unplugged i know better and i know this time i did messed up i was the one who took the metal cover on the cd player. can you please give an idea on what comppnent to check. i already checked the fuse is ok. i checked con401 pin 4 and don't get and voltage. can you please guide me as what could i had burned when the meteal toched the leads of the componets. oh when i was taking the metal and when it might had touched the leads of the componets the power was off and i didn't see and smoke or smelled as if something had been burned. all i know is that after taking the metal covering i dont get and power on this unit. thank you very much for you for help
if you shut cd draw with no cd in, does the laser lens move up or down at all. if it does suspect dead laser pickup. it is very common for lasers to fail

hello poopig1, after further review, I meant to describe this: look for a pinhole in the area of the CD tray to insert a pin...similar to the same pinhole you see on a PC's cd player to eject the tray manually. If there is none, then try this: Open the cover and find the motor that, when turning, performs the tray ejection. Then, turn that motor by hand until the entire tray (or cartridge) is ejected. Then power up and observe the events.

I have had a few of these come to my shop. The gears jump out of timing causing the cd lift to jam or become unalligned. The unit will probably have to be disassembled to get the CD out or have it serviced.

Honestly, here is what I did.
Your cheap-***, WalMart, DuraBrand, cd player will not work...correct? Trust me I know, I bought one for $2 at a gargage sale and realized when I got it home it would not work on ANY cd...not even with fresh batteries.
So.....I carried that beloved POS upstairs to the balcony of my and and dropped it flat on the ground from about 20 FT up. Of course it was dropped on carpet, but it was a good enough jolt to re-align the laser back up so it would read the disk.
My point is, is that the laser is not correctly aligned to read the disk. If a 20 foot drop does not fix it, palm it in your hand and slam it on a book that is laying on the counter. Don't slam it so hard that the poor thing flies to peices, but enough to make it think that "damn...that dude just dropped me off a balcony, what is next? Oh no...not the book slamming thing!".
Either way, the CD is not working. You can jimmy the laser back into somewhat of alignment, but if not, it sure is fun as hell beating it to death.

Hi, The cd disc is not in his place inside the multichanger, you must open the appliance and try to take out the cd without forcing, otherwise you wil brake the mechanical system,
after this the system will work well.
