if you shut cd draw with no cd in, does the laser lens move up or down at all. if it does suspect dead laser pickup. it is very common for lasers to fail

hello poopig1, after further review, I meant to describe this: look for a pinhole in the area of the CD tray to insert a pin...similar to the same pinhole you see on a PC's cd player to eject the tray manually. If there is none, then try this: Open the cover and find the motor that, when turning, performs the tray ejection. Then, turn that motor by hand until the entire tray (or cartridge) is ejected. Then power up and observe the events.

best solution take top cover of and as it says pleasewait and you hear the noise just give the tray a bit of a jolt to help it around but beware of electric wires and static that should fix your problem

I have had a few of these come to my shop. The gears jump out of timing causing the cd lift to jam or become unalligned. The unit will probably have to be disassembled to get the CD out or have it serviced.

Honestly, here is what I did.
Your cheap-***, WalMart, DuraBrand, cd player will not work...correct? Trust me I know, I bought one for $2 at a gargage sale and realized when I got it home it would not work on ANY cd...not even with fresh batteries.
So.....I carried that beloved POS upstairs to the balcony of my and and dropped it flat on the ground from about 20 FT up. Of course it was dropped on carpet, but it was a good enough jolt to re-align the laser back up so it would read the disk.
My point is, is that the laser is not correctly aligned to read the disk. If a 20 foot drop does not fix it, palm it in your hand and slam it on a book that is laying on the counter. Don't slam it so hard that the poor thing flies to peices, but enough to make it think that "damn...that dude just dropped me off a balcony, what is next? Oh no...not the book slamming thing!".
Either way, the CD is not working. You can jimmy the laser back into somewhat of alignment, but if not, it sure is fun as hell beating it to death.
