Question about Apple iPod nano

1 Answer

Hold mode always on, works fine otherwise.

My hold button seems to be working fine (it toggles back and forth just fine) but the player has the padlock symbol in the upper left hand corner that indicates its in hold mode. It works fine when I sync it to my PC, and even plays music if I put it in a cradle and control it with a remote, but it wont let me operate it manually (acts just like its in hold mode) Is there any way to fix this short of sending it in? Since its just a 1GB Nano it seems more cost effective to just upgrade, please let me know if theres an easy fix. Thanks!

Heres what i found

"Depending on when you bought it, Apple might fix it or you will need to.

Within 1 year: Apple will
Outside that: you will.

Now, if you have AppleCare then you are fine. Dial the phone!
Call apple anyway, just to see if they have any ideas..."

or you can try opening the nano up with a pocket knife and try to do it yourself. if you try to open it, open from the top left.

Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the Samsung's website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings.

Ipod 5th Generation Video froze and is now dead

Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

I have n ipod nano 2nd generation which has frozen, and although I have toggled the hold button and then held the center button and the play/pause button down it will not reset. Can you tell me what to do...

I toggled the hold key on and off and then held the MENU and CENTRE buttons down until the apple sign came up and it now works fine. I had to do the procedure a few times but it eventually worked.

Ipod is frozen...will not even connect to the computer.

Try this which should reset your ipod: First, toggle your hold switch back and forward and put it back to the off position. Then press and hold the menu button and the center button simultaneously for about six seconds and the screen should go blank and the apple logo should appear. After that it should work.

I had the same issue as everyone else. Here is how I fixed it:
1: unplugged it from my computer
2: Made sure hold is OFF (toggled back and forth to be sure)
3: Held the record button and then hit power.

It booted right up!
