SOURCE: stripped bar stud

Many Sthil chainsaws have replaceable bar studs. The stud threads into the case. Go here: http://www.baileysonline.com/itemdetail.asp?item=QA+0000+953+6605&catID=407
look for part by model number, usually no more than a few dollars. Enjoy

SOURCE: threaded stud that holds chain bar broke off, how do I get it off.

If it is broken off at the saw, you need to get an ez out to remove it - follow the instructions with it. pretty unusual for both studs to break off at the same time. Hope this helps you, Rick

SOURCE: Guide bar nut loose (stripped stud). How do I

I hope the nut is stripped and the stud is OK. Try to gently wedge something below the nut and with a socket attempt to slowly unscrew it.
Remington IPLs can be found here:
Remington.com
http://www.remingtonpowertools.com/find_manual.cgi
They do not use model names. Under "Products" click "Chain Saws"; find an image matching your model and click it. Some list a manual that includes an IPL some do not. If no IPL is listed the only place to get help is the "Repair Center" nearest you for parts. I doubt a bad stud can economically be replaced.
If the stud is still good NAPA Auto Parts can assist you to find a replacement nut. HTH

The threaded sleeves for the studs that hold the guide bar are stripped. What can I do to repair them?

remove bad studs with stud extractor and replace with new ones ?? or maybe normal bolts ?? (if in engine housing )
or in a bind ive even rethreaded them to fine thread (assuming course was old thread) with a die and used std fine nuts on them as well .

if studs go in plastic case/frame then case needs to be disassembled and then studs press out other direction

How to change bar bolts on mcculloch ms1635 chainsaw

The only reason I can think of to replace the bar screws is if one stripped or was broken since the bar is held on by nuts. The screws are installed in the engine case. The best thing to do is take it to a service center.
However, if you really want to do this, replacing part # 00083856-00 (JFT # 9214-310001) is not trivial. You will need to strip the housing off the saw to access the back side of the case. Once exposed the screw (bolt) can be turned out and a new one installed. After which, of course, you get to reassemble the housing.

How do I replace a broken chain bar locating pin/bolt on a McCulloch 540e petrol chainsaw?

The bar bolt is a stepped stun, it is screwed into the bar pad, you will have to grap it with a suitable pair of grips and undo it like a srew ( right hand thread, counter clockwise as you look at it ) you can then replace it with a new stud.

How do I replace one of the bar studs that is stripped?

This can be a DIY project but I'm go to suggest you contact a local saw shop or 2. They will usually do it for less money ($10-20) then you can buy the tools and supplies and are experienced with the procedure. GL

Lug stud

Here's another thought - if the stud isn't too badly stripped, you may be able to use a re-threading die to restore the threads. The thread type and size will depned on the make and model of your car. An autmotive parts store can usually help with this.
------------------------------

If you must replace the stud,

A bad stud can usually be driven out through the back of the axle flange. You said the stud was stripped. You can:

Force one of the lug nuts onto the stripped stud maybe two to three turns , then take a drift pin and drive the stud out the back. The stud will have grooves that hold it in place on the axle flange. You willl hhave to hold the stud head with vice grips and remove the lug nut to get the stud out.

To install a new stud, insert it from the back, add a little grease to the knurls (grooves) and pull it into place with a lug nut. The stud must be firmly seated in the axle flange.

sounds like the bar stud is stripped out in the case. you might have to have a thread insert, like a Heli-coil, put in.
