Question about D-Link RangeBooster N DWA-142 (1010125954) Wireless Adapter

2 Answers

DWA-142 Rangebooster When using this product and connecting to a network the sound quality of my Toshiba laptop (streaming audio, media players such as Windows Media Player, DIVX, VLC, etc. Mp3s etc etc and even the internal sounds, ie alert tones) become statiticy, slow down and speed up intermittantly , echo, or become garbled) but when I disconnect from the wireless network even if the D-Link adapter is enabled all sound functions return to normal. I use XP and reinstalled OS to start from scratch and as soon as the D-Link driver is installed asthe first and only hardware software add, on the problem begins. Help.

Same problem with vista home premium. to the letter, as you described it. was with dell support all day and there's no documented problem. my guess is the adapter just sucks? lol. i'll try another. how bout you guys, anyone try a different one?

I lost my CD for D-Link Rangebooster N USB Adapter & a driver for Window 7

Go to this page:

select your "revision" A or B, it should say on the device. The selection box is on the right side of the page.

For revision B just download the most recent driver, it has the windows 7 driver in the package. For revision A, just use the windows vista driver for the bit level of operating system you have (32 or 64 bit) in the most recent driver for revision A.

once you have the zip, just extract it, then plug in the device, when it asks for the drivers point it at the extracted files.

Connected but cant use internet explorer

here is my advice : Just go to and download internet explorer again and install it , then reboot your system . I'm sure that this will solve the problem . any way , why don't you try other internet communication softwares like ( firefox or google chrome) those both are great also . I advice you to have more than one internet communication software . I already have three just in case if one of them is corrupted . I have ( Internet explorer and firefox and google chrome ) . just try the idea and you'll be satisfied with the result .
good luck .

rate if useful please !

I wana konw abut hot may i install D-Link dwa 142 Driver for Linux

you can use ndiswrapper with windows drivers.
1. You need to install ndiswrapper (`apt-get install ndiswrapper` on debian-based systems or `yum install ndiswrapper` or smth like this on redhat-based)
2. Get windows .inf and .sys file. There's no easy way to extract inf file from d-link installation, so you can get in here:
3. Run ndiswrapper -i netmw245.inf
