Make sure all your connections are in place, and secure. check to see if there is a reset switch on the back. have you checked the manual for that particular problem? if you have access to the tv menu system, if may be an issue with a timer for the picture to be on

SOURCE: 32" flat screen that went black
There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.
Please post back what you find.

SOURCE: Samsung LE40B550 - No Picture
I had exactly the same problem with my LE40B550 which I bought in July. I phoned the place I bought it online (eBuyer) and they put me in contact with a Samsung repair centre who fixed it under warranty. It took them 2½ weeks to fix it and get it back to me. The note that came back with the TV said they had replaced the IP board. I think the part number was H40F1 9HS.
The repair centre paid less than £50 for the board (it shows on the returns paperwork).
If you only bought yours in August, and haven't had it fixed yet, I suggest you just get in contact with whoever you bought it from and get it done under warranty.
