Question about Kingston Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I purchased a Kingston DataTraveller 64gb hyper x 3.0. It works find on my notebook with windows 7 - fine on another notebook with Win xp - but when I plug it into my desktop system it flashes once - shows up property in explorer for a few seconds then dies. I've tried re-installing the usb drivers for my hard drive. All other USB devices work fine - datatraveller 100 G3 64 gb no problem - its just this one stick that's giving me a problem. Any ideas?

Try going to this link might be something very simple but they have good information. http://www.kingston.com/en/support/technical/products?model=DTHX30 could be a case of being a usb configuration problem

Theoretically, you can't format a more than 32 GB drive with FAT/FAT32 file system. In your case you have to choose the NTFS file system to format your 64 GB USB flash drive. However, if you really need to format it with FAT32, you got to use the command line or a third party tool. Hope this is going to help you.

SOURCE: Kingston Datatraveler Windows 7.

1]Go to control pannel
2]Go to System and Security
3]Go to Device Manager
4]Click Universal Serial Bus Controllers
5]Right click the USB
6]Click Uninstall
then Reboot computer while pendrive is inserted in USB
Then connect to the internet.
When you connect to the internet if the said USB is empty
(i.e. no device is inserted in it) they install the device
eventhough the device is not present, causing the said error.

Panasonic cf-74 toughbook cannot load win xp proff. i can load win 7 from usb drive, i can load win vista from cd disk. hdd shows up in bios, when trying to load win xp loads fine until says starting...

It sounds to me like you requre Win'XP Service Pack 3.
If you are using Service Pack 2 or earlier, there is no
SATA support which is why the HDD is not recognized.

Get Service Pack 3 and your problems will be solved.

Good Luck

as win xp is no longer supported by microsoft it is very possible that the updates are not being recognized by win xp and you now have confloicts in the os.
if it works fine in win 7 , then it is time to remove win xp and upgrade to win 7

I have a kingston datatraveller 200 64GB. I cannot access it and I get the message 2233 Pram. HOW can I read my files?

You can not. This is a damaged Flash Drive. The portion of the chip that holds the programming has become damaged. I had the exact issue. It had to be sent to a level 3 recovery company. Like ADR or Ontrack. I used ADR. Then you can send the device to Kingston for a free replacement but Kingston will NOT do a data recovery for you.

I think you will find that the card works fine but your computer doesnt recognise the card reader properly. Windows 98 does not properly recognise most usb devices but Windows 98SE does although I am not sure if it will recognise usb2 properly.

W98SE Driver for Kingston 1.0Gb DataTraveller Flash Drive

The people at your local computer shop are wrong but, Windows 98 should at least recognize the USB thumb-drive and ask for drivers.
I would remove all the USB Controllers from within Device Manager and restart; allow Windows upon restart to reload the USB Controllers; then plug in the drive and see if Windows at least recognizes and then install drivers.
It seems only the DTI/XX, KUSBDTE/XX, and DTII/XX support Windows 98.
