SOURCE: I converted my 40

I am having almost the same problem. Frigidaire told me to replace all 5 mixing tubes, ~$385, yeah right. They don't have the orifices itemized as an individual part, so no-one carries them, just the LP conversion kit. Another repair/parts guy advised me to drill out the orifices. Some other threads/blogs give the diameter to drill. Basically, since natural gas is 0.5 psi, you need a larger hole than your current propane orifices provide. Please speak up if you find out anything, I will try to do the same. Good luck.

Natural gas conversion

If Brinkmann say the grill can't be converted there must be a reason and it would be unwise to jury-rig a conversion kit for another grill. Gas is an explosive substance, plus the mix of gas to air has to be in the correct percentage for a good burn.

I have a Weber Silver B grill that I purchased 12 years ago.I would like to convert it from propane to Natural Gas. I have been told I cant! Is this true? If not, where can I get a conversion kit? Thanks!

Weber stopped selling conversion kits due to some legal action in 2008. There are no longer kits available. What you would have to do to covert it is order a replacement gas valve for the NG version of your grill just to get the orifices. Then you have to replace the LP regulator with a NG regulator. Typically most NG grills do NOT have a regulator but local building codes will require a NG regulator and a different gas line hose.
Conversion of a BBQ gas valve to NG is a matter of drilling out the orifice to a larger hole in an LP orifice.
You will not find anyone that will perform this conversion for you due to legal liabilites.
If you want to convert it... you will either have to order the whole gas control valve for NG or drill out the orifices yourself in your current gas valve hoping your got the orifice hole size correct when you drilled it. Mind you all liability for doing this lies solely with you.

This site has all weber parts:

I want to convert my agr38pf grill to propane is there a conversion kit / where is the orifice located

Actually, there are no conversion kits available from Sure Heat, the manufacturer of your Altima grill. They are manufactured and sold only by the fuel type - Natural Gas or Liquid Propane Gas. So, just changing the orifices is not going to make a full conversion. For more insight, here is a link to the Owners Manual for your model grill. http://www.sureheat.com/Manuals/Grills/altima_manual.pdf

I got a GE gas range (model JGBS22) from a co-worker. She had converted it from gas to propane. I just had a plumber hook it up to natural gas but, even with the conversion manual, he couldn't change the...

There should be a set of orifices for each burner as well as the oven and broiler. When the unit was converted to propane, these orifices should have been replaced and the ones for gas put in with the conversion kit installation information. The kit should have been reattached near the pressure regulator.

If the kit was missing the orifices, then, yes, you are missing pieces. Check with your coworker if the conversion kit was missing. If you have the kit, it can be easily done by any appliance installer (or repair person) licensed for handling NG. (At least on our range, the conversion kit installation was straight forward. Every orifice was clearly labeled with the labels different for each burner and for the gas/LP kits (ABCD (NG) vs MNOP (LP)) .) The regulator is the only part that switched for LP or NG without the kit.

As I recall, the only tools we needed for the top burners were a small wrench (10 mm) and a small flat blade screwdriver. Remove one orifice and put in the appropriate replacement. Then adjust the burners so that they didn't blow out when the oven was opened or quickly turned from high to low (for the simmer burner). The oven and broiler took a bit longer. Several screws had to be removed to get at the orifices. Then the air flow had to be adjusted for the incoming gas.

I hope this helps.

(the conversion installation manual was on the counter during installation; I read it while it was open.)

Do you have instructions on how to convert a deep fryer to LP I have a Pitco 35cs I need to convert to LP

Visit http://www.middleby.com and go to PITCO web, you will be able to locate there the nearest authorized parts dealer on your area and ask for the conversion kit (from nat to lp). The gas valve conversion kit consists of spring, cap and instruction manual. you also need to replace the burner and pilot orifice, Nat pilot and burner orifice have larger bore than lp.

I have a Sunjoy patio heater that uses propane and I want to convert it to natural gas. Is there a hose kit, and do I need to change the orifice. Richard

You will have to change the orifice for sure, but you have to get an orifice that works with the valve on the heater. Check with the manufacturer and see if there is a conversion kit, it is the only way to make sure that you make all the necessary changes to the unit. If there is not a conversion kit available, I would recommend that you not do it.

I dunno, I have not done the conversion for this particular barbecue, but the kit is listed in the parts list for that barbecue,

It would be appropriate at this time to print the conversion instruction manual and take it to a local 'guy' a gas fitter.
The instruction .pdf shows them converting 3, 5, 7 burner units with the same kit, and states
  • Insert orifice removal tool provided with kit onto firebox burner openings and unscrew orifices from valves.
Save removed orifices for later if converting back to LP Tank Gas.
The valves are designed to work with natural gas once orifices are removed.
Do not replace any Orifices when using natural gas.
NOTE: your gas conversion kit comes with replacement orifices for the Rotisserie Burner ONLY, do not use on Tube burner valves.

seems the same 2-burner kit is for all barbecues
I think the person on the phone messed up, but a gas-guy would know for sure
