Either your drain when plumbed wasn't installed with a y that allows smooth flow past the tub... or it bottle necks too much and needs the over flow to get down the drain. Or the drain size should be enlarged to 2 inch instead of 1 1/2 inch. If the existing drain is galvanized then it narrows with age. The drain lines may not have enough lean and have deposits on the bottom that need a plumber with a root cutter bit on an electric eel to get removed. (rental eels are just not good enough). Also is this drain vented properly to allow the air to move aside so as to allow the water to run down smooth?

Kenmore elite washer little amount of water fills washer

If I am understanding the question, you have low water pressure/volumn when washer is filling? If so, unplug washer. Shut off water at valves. Remove water lines from rear water inlets on washer. Clean debris from screen filters in water inlets or in supply lines. Flush supply lines into bucket. Reconnect water, power, and test.

The water in the bathtub won't shut off. Its a one lever on off. I turned the cold water off but the hot water still leaks out of the fill tube a little bit. Why won't the valve shut off the water

washer and or cartridges have failed and need to be replace to stop your leaking faucet. If it becomes to bad before you can repair them, you may wish to shut off the hot water valve to keep it from wasting hot water.

How can i find the main water turn off; the cold water tap, for the bath, needs a new washer

if it is not in,under or right outside your house you can always shut it off at the water meter, usually located on the property line under a metal cover. use a crescent wrench or channel lock pliers. if more than one family is on this one meter, notify everyone involved about your repair problem and co-ordinate a time to turn off the water that is convenient for everyone.

I have hot water in my bathroom sink, but not to my shower/bathtub all of a sudden.I went and checked the line and felt it,still plenty hot.I turned the valve off and back on,came back inside and had hot...

You don't indicate what kind of valve(s) you have in your shower/bathtub.

It is sometimes the case, when you have separate hot and cold valves that use the traditional flat washer, the rubber/viton washer wears over time and actually becomes cut, such that a part of the washer protrudes from the valve face.

Hot water will cause the distorted washer to expand. Consequently, as more and hotter water flows through the valve, the washer expands to the point where it constricts the flow of hot water.

Replace the washer, at least on the hot water valve.
