USB cables are readily available via E-Bay. The one you need will be either "A" ended at the printer, or "B" ended. They are easily identified. The "A" type is oblong, about 10mm by 3mm. The "B" type is kind of square, about 8mm each side. Most printers I've encountered are "B" ended at the printer. The standard "A" end is always at the PC end. So, you would typically go looking for an "A" to "B" USB cable. They are usually about 1 metre long, so check that 1 metre will be long enough. You can buy them in 1 meter increments.
Hope this helps.

Why doesn't Mac recognize usb product

There could be several reasons why your Mac may not recognize a USB product. Here are some possible solutions:
  1. Check the USB port: Make sure the USB port is not damaged and is clean. Try plugging the USB product into a different USB port on your Mac.
  2. Check the USB product: The USB product may be defective or damaged. Try plugging the USB product into a different computer to see if it works. If it does not work on any computer, the product may be defective and you may need to replace it.
  3. Check the USB cable: The USB cable connecting the USB product to your Mac may be faulty. Try using a different USB cable to connect the USB product to your Mac.
  4. Restart your Mac: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve USB connectivity issues. Restart your Mac and then try plugging in the USB product again.
  5. Update your Mac: Make sure your Mac is running the latest version of macOS. Go to the Apple menu and click on "System Preferences," then click on "Software Update" to check for any available updates.
  6. Reset the SMC: The System Management Controller (SMC) controls many hardware functions on your Mac, including USB connectivity. Resetting the SMC may help resolve USB connectivity issues. The steps to reset the SMC vary depending on the model of your Mac, so it's best to check Apple's support website for specific instructions.
If none of these solutions work, it may be best to contact the manufacturer of the USB product for further assistance, or take your Mac to an authorized Apple service provider for further diagnosis.

WIRE ASSIGNMENTS

Red: + 5V / Voltage + / VCC
White: D - / Data - / USB -
Green: D + / Data + / USB +
Black: GND / Voltage - / Ground
Black: S-GND / Over Current / Shielding

The S-GND wire is fatter and can be easily recognized. The connection of S-GND wire to the header pin is optional.

HEADER CONNECTION GUIDES

Diagram 1: On most motherboards, the USB header/pin-out consists of 9 pins arranged in 2 rows, which allows for 2 USB connections (i.e. USB1 and USB2). Normally, the pins for USB1 and USB2 are in seperate rows.
Diagram 2: Simply plug the connector onto the 5-pins row, and make sure that the pin assignments and wire assignments are matched correctly.
Diagram 3: Alternatively, you can plug the connector onto the 4-pins row, and leave the S-GND wire unconnected.
You might have to rearrange the wires to match with the pin assignments, or change the header connector if necessary, depending on the layout of the USB header.
On some motherboards, there is a NC pin in the USB header. You can connect the S-GND wire onto this pin. NC simply means "no connection" and NC pin is an "empty" pin.
2X5 PINS HEADER
Refer to the diagram below, for 2x5 pins header, simply plug the connector onto one row of the pins, and always make sure that pin assignments and wire assignments are matched correctly. You might have to rearrange the wires if necessary.

2X4 PINS HEADER
Refer to the diagram below, for 2x4 pins header, simply plug the connector onto one row of the pins. Please note that there is no S-GND pin in this header. You can leave the S-GND wire unconnected. You might have to rearrange the wires if necessary, in such that the wire assignments and pins assignments are matched correctly.

ACTIVE PINS NOT IN THE SAME ROW

On some motherboards, the 4 active pins are not located in the same row, as shown in the example below:

To connect to this type of USB header, you need to change the header connector to 2x5. Simply rearrange the wires within the 2x5 connector to match with the pin assignments. If the green wire is connected to the USB2+ pin, the white wire must be connected to the USB2- pin. The red wire can be connected to any +5V pin, and the black (GND) wire to any GND pin. If there is no S-GND pin provided, you can leave the S-GND wire unconnected.

hope it helps

C5180 all in one is not connecting via ethernet.

Before you begin: Check requirements Make sure you have the following items:
  • One of the following types of wired access points or routers: Ethernet router, switch, hub, or wireless router with Ethernet ports
  • A computer that connects to the wired access point or router
  • A Category 5 Ethernet cable to use for the HP product. (Do not use a standard telephone cable.) Figure 2: Cable comparisonc01710115.gif 1 - Ethernet cable 2 - Telephone cable (do not use) Although an Ethernet cable looks similar to standard telephone cable, each has a different plug and a different number of wires. The plug on an Ethernet cable (also called an RJ-45 connector) is wide, thick, and always has eight wires. The plug on a telephone cable is narrower and has between two and six wires.
Are you changing from USB connection to Ethernet connection? If you previously installed the software for a USB connection and now want to change to an Ethernet connection, follow these instructions to remove the USB installation before continuing.
  1. Click Start , click Printers and Faxes , and then right-click the icon for HP product.
  2. Click Delete to remove the product.
  3. Disconnect the USB cable from the product and the computer.
Step one: Connect the HP All-in-One to the network
  1. Remove any plug or protective cover from the Ethernet port on the back of the product. Figure 3: Remove plugc01710117.gif
  2. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the product, and then connect the other end of the cable to an available port on the wired access point or router. Figure 4: Connect the Ethernet cablec01710118.gif
  3. Connect the power cord to the product, and then plug it into an electrical outlet.
  4. Turn the product on.
Step two: Decide whether to install with the product CD or download the software Don’t worry if you don’t have the product CD! You can download the most current software available for your product from the HP Web site at no cost. The following information might help you decide which installation method to use:
CD Download For a new product: CD installation is a quick and easy method. If you do not have a CD, you can download the software you need. For an older product: CD installation might not work if you are installing the product on a computer running a newer operating system that released AFTER the HP product released. Downloading the software provides the best results for your older product. Even though it takes more time than using the CD, downloading the latest software can help you avoid installation issues.

Downloading is the recommended method if your computer operating system released after the HP product released. About the software: The software on the CD is current to the date of the product release. The software that you can download from the HP Web site is the most current software available for your product. HP often updates software and drivers AFTER the product and CD release to the market.Step three: Install the software

I have a Netgear wireless router & want to know if i can connect my Lexmark x2600 to it so that i can print wirelessly from my laptop and how i would go about doing so.

Your product does not directly support wireless nor wired Ethernet networking.

In order to use your product in this manner you will need to purchase a "USB Print Server" which will allow for USB to Ethernet or USB to Wireless Ethernet or "WiFi"

Something similar to this product:
