Several possibilities here, first the motor in the revolving brush head has failed. Second, there is a power supply conduit built into the frame of the machine and when it is fully assembled sends power to the brush head motor. This could have a break in one or more places normally where they connect together. Finally, the switch is not sending power down the power conduit as it has become disconnected or damage. A combination of two or possibly all three scenarios could be the problem. I go for a break in the supply conduit...

Several possibilities for this situation. It's possible that there's a break in the power cord somewhere, not necessarily a noticeable break, but a break none-the-less. It's possible that there's a reset on the motor to protect it from overheating. The switch may be broken inside. I'd say there's a good possibility that you're going to need to bring it to a good sweeper repair shop in your neighborhood.
Assuming you are using the correct bags, a small bungee cord clipped on one side of the vac outlet passed under the lip of the bag opening and attached to the other side of the vac outlet, will do the trick. Good luck!
My Dyson dc18 had the same symptoms. The wand worked well and the floor bar had no suction. After removing pieces & shoving my fingers into the machine (no blockage) I found the suction pipe rotates between two positions (floor and wand). It looks like a piece of plastic broke on the outside housing, so it no longer rotates positions when the wheels are raised or lowered. My son found we can move the suction by sliding a finger into the mechanism behind the wheel cover, and rotating the plastic piece clock-wise or counter clock-wise until it locks into position. It's a big pain but it works for now. I wish I could find a replacement piece online. Patty
Roomba has a problem identifying colors under certain situations. I've seen them freak out on a perfectly flat black-and-white checkerboard pattern. Sometimes they become "blind" due to this condition.
I can't tell what your specific problem is but you might try a small band of tape around the bottom of the chair legs in a color opposite what the chairs are now. Electrical tape comes in a few colors and is easy enough to use. Hope that helps.
orecks have a plastic fan inside and everything you pick up hits it, sometimes things can get stuck in there or break the fan locking up the motor. With the machine off, poke around where the dirt goes into the motor, behind the roller and see if you can pull anything out.
I had the same problem and was preparing to take it back, the last thing I tried was to 'reseat' the handle -- I removed it then snapped it very firmly back into place. That did it, it's working beautifully now!
