Microsoft's Elite Wireless keyboard and mouse is an excellent combination for use, according to your criteria. It costs less than $65.00 and is easily connected to replace a wired keyboard and mouse.
I have been using two of them for years now, and have never had a problem with them.
They eliminate excess wires, and work like a charm.

I bought an Advent ADE-WD1 wireless keyboard and mouse 2 - 3 years ago for my Compaq PC. I tried it for a while but got fed up with the cursor flying all over the screen and shaking without my assistance so I went back to the corded versions that came with the PC. I now have a new PC, a Packard Bell and have tried the wireless kit with it. Occasionally the keyboard fails to be recognised and now the mouse will not be recognised at all. The light underneath stays lit all the time, it hardly flashes and has no connection with the PC at all. How can I get both to work with my PC?
