SOURCE: CMOS Battery do no work

Just change your CMOS battery with a new one and after that goto the bios settings and update the time and dare.
After that just save the settings and then check that the warning message is coming or not.

If its coming then it means you need to change the CMOS jumper settings.

ASUS P5GZ-MX: Cmos Settings Wrong - Tryed New Cmos battery and setting time a date howto fix ?

It may just be that the new battery needs to be charged. I would leave it switched on for 24 hours to check. If this doesn't fix the problem, it could also be a failing BIOS chip or the charging circuit for the CMOS battery has failed. If the BIOS chip is not socketed or the cmos charging circuit has failed, you will need to replace the motherboard or find an electronics engineer to replace the failed components, this will probably be more expensive that a new board.

Why do date and time keep setting to default?

Are you sure you replaced the CMOS battery with a fresh one? Did you install it backwards (the plus side should be UP). I've only seen a bad CMOS battery cause that problem. I would try one you know is new and check the installation.

Good luck.

This issue is often caused by either an incorrect setting in CMOS Setup or a bad boot device, such as a bad hard disk drive.

  1. Verify your boot options are properly set in CMOS setup. I recommend having the CD or disc drive as your first boot device and then hard drive as the second boot device.
  2. If your CMOS Setup has an option to boot from the LAN disable this option.
  3. If you have changed any CMOS settings, make sure to save and reboot the computer.

If this does not resolve the issue, try resetting the CMOS values to the default settings, save and exit.
If this fixes the problem but it reoccurs again later you main need a new cmos battery. Or keep your battery always slightly charged.

The time on my computer is always wrong. I change it and the minute my screesaver comes on it is wrong again. I think its the cmos battery. I need to know where it is in my laptop....sony pcg-grz660 and...

When you first turn on the machine do you get a message about it reverting to default bios settings? If not I doubt its the CMOS it could be any sort of malware messing with your time settings, especially as you say it happens when the screensaver comes on.
When a CMOS battery starts to go you will notice a change in the bios long before the time goes.

If I understand correctly your saying when you exit the cmos, id doesn't save your changes. Make sure when you exit you select the option to save and exit. If that doesn't work, your cmos battery is dead. Look in the mobo manual to find out what replacement battery you need.
