Okay, someone gave me this tv and I was excited til I turned it on. I have a picture but, it looks like someone pushed the picture backwards into the tv (like the picture is an arc.) The colors are okay, it's just the picture. The guy who gave it to me said it would cost 500-700 dollars to fix but, didn't tell me what was wrong with it. Any help?

Re: Problem with the picture
You need to replace the convergence ICs in this TV set. If you know how to solder and work on printed circuit boards and can follow a circuit diagram, this should really not be a difficult thing to do. If you do not have ALL of these talents, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair as this TV set is NOT the place to be experiementing around inside of. Good Luck

first of all, is it on the correct av channel, plugged into av1 and av1 selected on the tv. is the lead good, can you swap around some leads with other known to be good leads. are the leads pushed in fully, a scart lead can sometimes look like its pushed in fully when its not. check for bent pins on each end of the leads.
I had dish satelight install on my TV. It worked well for two days, then the picture started showing in a square box. I ffixed the convergence and it seemed okay. The next day I turned on the tv and it had sound, but no picture. When I press the status button, the picture would come on then go right back out. Now I don't have any sound or picture. Good day, dkimberly428;
Sorry you are having a problem with your SNG TV.
Let me ask you why did you replace the color wheel? Was it making noise, but had pic prior to changing it?
Okay, if that was it, try this: the color wheel ***'y has one cable and "ribbon type" cable, correct? Okay, make sure both cables are secured. Secondly, the "ribbon type cable" was more then likely put in backwards. If I remember correctly the shiny side (end) of ribbon cable should be facing the rear of TV.
Good Luck, big IRISH. PS always double check ALL cables in TV to make sure they are properly seated.
I gave this advice to someone with this same problem so here it is again:
It sounds like your shutdown circuit is being activated. This is due to excess current being drawn. This usually happens in the High Voltage section of the TV or one of the deflection stages. Due to the nature of this problem I would suggest that you take it to a local TV repair shop or have a TV repair person come out and take a look at the issue. The HV section is dangerous and should be dealt with by a qualified TV repair technician.
