SOURCE: I need a timer motor

It appears your timer has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

As a serviceman myself, I can tell you that selling parts for stuff ends up with serviceman spending time on the phone helping to repair the thing for free. Not just that, but servicemen have to salvage parts and know which parts to salvage, and then inventory the parts, and remember where all that dang stuff is ... and with overhead, and cost of labor and trucks, the part costs the same as a service call. So hire the guy or buy a new one.

SOURCE: Looking for ''Culligan soft-minder meter'' (part# 01-0073-47)

It could be the meter assembly itself. This is the old style with the clear meter dial on the timer mechanism. There were several issues with this meter assembly. You can take the valve off and take it to your Culligan dealer for a "bench test". Also check the meter cable in back of meter assembly. It may have come apart. These parts are only available from Culligan.

The waster Softner does not regenerate on its own?

Hi Pam,

Did you just install this ? If not, how old is it ? This is a metered water softener, and if it is not counting gallons, it will never regenerate. To check this, press and hold the SELECT button for 3 seconds, and turn on a faucet. This will show the counting of the water. If it is not counting, there may be debris in the meter turbine, or it is plumbed in backwards.

Ventilate won't go away! WHY?

Why do I get Ventilate all the time?
The ventilate problem will always come back if the flow meter is restricted. If the flow meter is plugged it will never go away. What happens to cause this problem? Coffee grounds are the answer. If you remove the water tank, it exposes the water intake receptacle under the tank on top of the machine. The small opening in the receptacle that has a hose that goes to the flow meter that then goes to the pump intake. If some coffee particles fall into this opening when you are filling the bean hopper (and they do). When the pump is activated, it creates a suction, moving the water and anything in the hose to the flow meter. The flow meter has a small opening in the intake side. ). When the pump is activated, suction inside the flow meter creates a jet of water, which spins the little turbine inside. The turbine has a small magnet on top that passes a pick up sensor, which tells the computer that water is flowing. If the intake opening is restricted with coffee grounds, it will let some water flow but won't create a jet of water needed to spin the turbine. Water will come out of the steam wand, but won't spin the turbine and the ventilate signal will still be there. If the flow meter is slightly restricted, the pump can create enough suction to spin the turbine when there is no restrictions when the steam valve is just flowing water (priming), but when you try to steam or make coffee and the pump slows down, the jet of water stops and so does the turbine and the ventilate comes back. How to fix this problem? Answer, the flow meter has to be removed and cleaned, or just replaced. How to prevent this from happening? If you are working on the bean hopper (filling with beans) keep the water tank on and covered. This will prevent a bean chip from falling into the receptacle and getting to the flow meter. Do the same with the bean hopper. If you ware filling the water tank, keep the lid to the bean hopper on, so water doesn't spill into the bean hopper and ruin the grinder.bansheracer.jpg

Problem: No water flow; Solution: Unclog a small orifice in the flow meter

My 5 year-old Syncrony Logic stopped working for the first time today. The water would not flow, not through the steamer, not through the brew group. I had previously thoroughly cleaned the brew group screens, steamer wand, water dispenser filter, etc. Still no water flow. I could hear the pump working but no flow.

I only use distilled water in the unit, so I've never had a scale problem (distilled water has no minerals, thus nothing to create scale). After downloading a parts schematic from here, I dug into the case. By the way, I suggest you don't proceed unless you have at least some mechanical ability and are not afraid to break something in the process. Be sure to unplug from the wall first, unless you really like electricity A LOT.

After removing the drip tray, grinds bin, water tub, and coffee hopper, I removed the gray top. To do this: from the top remove 2 screws under the water tub, 2 screw under the coffee hopper. And from below the control panel: 4 screws from the under-side along the front and behind the brew group cover. Once the screws are out lift the cover at the back and pivot off the front.

2 things are attached to this cover: the power switch and water hose. The power switch easily slides off the top cover. The water hose runs from the water dispenser fitting and into a little white gizmo with another hose running out of it and into the pump. The little gizmo is a flow meter that ensures water is flowing. Remove the hose from the tank and flow meter in order to clean it.

The top of this flow meter easily comes off by slightly twisting the top counter-clockwise about 10 degrees, lining up 3 tabs with slots and lifting it off. Its a little snug coming off due to an o-ring seal. You'll see the little turbine wheel inside. In the top is the input and output ports in the flow meter turbine chamber.

The input opening into the flow meter turbine is TINY. It was clogged with a bit of gooey fluff. I poked it out with a small pipe-cleaner, then made sure the hose from the tank was clean, and the opening into the turbine was gunk-free.

After I put it all back together it ran like a champ again. I love this espresso maker. First problem in 5 years of flawless operation.

Sestem is not using up salt and will not flush the lines when it is set up to .

Hi Joey,

There could be several reasons why your softener is not using salt. If it has a Demand Control the turbine that meters the water may be blocked and stuck so the softener doesn't realize that you are using any water, so it won't try to regenerate.

Your injector may be plugged, although this would cause the salt tank to become more full with each regeneration.

If you initiate a manual regeneration and regeneration does not happen you may need to replace the softener.

Knowing what make, model and age of your softener would help greatly in assessing. The best quality softeners last 15 to 18 years unless you have an Autotrol Turbulator in your softener, in which case add 25% more time; 19 to 23 years. There are a few brands that don't seem to last longer than 10 years...

You most likely have a slight leak in the brine line. This is the most common failure on a water softener. A slight leak will allow air to enter during brine draw, breaking the vacuum. it doesn't take much of leak, in fact it can be small enough that water does not leak out during brine refill but it will not draw brine. Check the compression fittings at the brine tank and the softener valve. disassemble the connection, cut back the tubing and reconnect. Other things to look for are low water pressure, the unit requires 25 psi minimum during regeneration. Also make sure the drain line is not restricted and the maximum head on the drain is 4' over the softener.

There are a number of things that it could be. The main problem is that the softner is not sucking the brine into the tank. It still ran water into you tank till the safety shutoff stopped it. This made all the salt turn into a big lump. You will need to find out why the unit does not have suction when it is in the "brine and rinse" mode. Probably either the float in the brine tank is stuck or there is dirt in the screen at the top of the hose out of the brine tank that is stopping the brine from being sucked up the hose. First empty the tank and then you can see what the unit is doing from there.
