Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

SOURCE: on my casio fx-82au plus calculator it won't

The capability of these calculators to handle irrational numbers in radical form is limited to square roots. Roots of index other than 2 are always displayed in their decimal representation.
If the calculator IO mode is set to MathIO, square roots will be displayed with the radical symbol. More complicated expressions with square roots might not be preserved and will be given as decimal numbers.

This is a good scientific calculator that can do a lot, but things in the realm of a CAS (Computer Algebra System) are beyond its capabilities.

I have a Casio fx 991ES and I'd like to have my answers in surd form instead of decimals how is that possible

Select the Math input/output mode by pressing SHIFT [SETUP] 1.

[SETUP] is the shifted function of the MODE key, located just right of the round cursor pad.

My casio calculator is giving answers always in fraction form. I need to get the answers in decimal form (my calculator is fx-991ES)

To convert a single answer from symbolic to decimal, press the S--D key (just above the DEL key). To have all answers come out in decimal format, press SHIFT MODE 2 to switch to the LineIO mode.

Hi there, I have a Casio fx-991ES, and my calculator doesn't seem to be converting decimals in surd form... i.e. 0.3354101966 was the last number I typed in that didn't work... That, in surd...

The calculator can't identify that this is a surd unless you input it as a surd, ie as 3/(4*sqrt(5))= when it will then show the equivalent form 3*sqrt(5)/20 (obtained by multiplying top and bottom by sqrt(5)) and you can swap between the two forms using the S<>D button. Even adding the next 4 decimal places (hidden) won't allow the calculator to identify the underlying surd as this is simply too complcated a calculation.

The answer comes up as a fraction

this is in surd/math form,

to get to line form press Shift > Mode (setup) > 2:LineIO

this may be option 10 but you are essentially looking for something with the word line in it

if you are doing A-Level etc. you may wish to just press the S<>D button instead

hope i helped
