Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager. Than go to Sound, Video Controllers. See if you have any audio controllers listed. If you than remove them and than reboot the computer. Windows should reinstall them. If that doesn't work and you a sound card, than check and make sure the sound card is firmly in place.

I have an Xitel Hi-Fi link, USB type. For some reason it stopped working on my Dell Windows 7 machine. When I check the device manager is shows it with a yellow icon and says it's not working....

The product details say that is a plug and play device, this means it shouldn't need a driver, how ever with it being used with windows 7, I don't know if that makes the difference. Shouldn't, but never no, I also had no luck finding drivers. I would uninstall the drivers associated with it and reboot your computer with this hooked up and see what happens.

Sound problem

Start by getting a program called SIW from Gabriel Topala's website. Once you install this, under hardware and audio or sound devices, you find all brand and part specific info to give further information.

Also try under audio devices in control panel, check which device is set to default, and tinker with it, if you change it to a new option and you hear a "BING" you have fixed it. NOTE: Write down the original setting so you can put it back if you dont fix it.

If you need further help let me know, I CAN solve this problem.

I cant here any audio sound on my computer

There are a few simple things to check first:
• Make sure your computer has a sound card.
You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.
1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button getopencontent.aspx?assetid=4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.‌ getopencontent.aspx?assetid=18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers category. If a sound card is listed, you have one installed. If no sound card is listed, You will need to install one. See Install or remove a sound card.
NoteIf you think you have a sound card installed but you don’t see it under the Sound, video and game controllers category, expand the Other devices category and check any devices listed there. 3. If there is a yellow question mark next to the name of the sound card, there might be a problem. Right-click the name of the sound card, and then click Properties.
4. Click the General tab, and then look in the Device status box to identify problems with the sound card.

You will need to reinstall your audio driver. However, if your audio is defected, then reinstalling will not fix the problem. But try reinstalling the drivers first.
Let me know what happens.
