Question about Samsung D840 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Software Problem About 2 weeks after I bought the Samsung D-840 and cancelled my insurance it started to play up, it would cut out sometimes repeatedly without warning so say if i was on a call or typing a text message or using any other function, unexpectedly it cut out as if it lossed power then light up again displaying the welcome screen (shown when restarting phone) then back to the standby screen (Main screen with 'Menu' and 'Contacts' options). It is worst phone yet and I will never get another Samsung brand. But for the next 1yr 3 months left on my phone contract I would like to learn of a solution for my problem. Thank you.

Re: Software Problem

Take the phone and have the phone's firmware reflash on the phone.

Bought $800 phone that stopped working after 1 year 4 months. no water damage to phone. no insurance on phone. can i get help from samsung to fix phone

It cannot hurt to contact them, they may be amenable to giving assistance. You could play on the expectation that the phone would prove durable when you bought it. For top end phones the warranty is how long?I would have thought 2 years.
Rather than going throu a retailer who will not be very sympathetic
and who will probably just stick to telling you the warranty is not in effect you could try contacting the manufacturer's technical department or customer services .

Good Luck with it

Depends on whether the fault is minor like the wires to the motor being cut off or a possible fault of the software or failure in hardware - fault in main board or motor.
You can always check out for the minor fault but if not take estimate from the dealer.

Samsung button not functioning

The same thing has happened to my D840. Very annoying as ive only had it 5 months. After a bit of research and asking around, ive found out that this is a very common fault with these phones. The ribbon inside which connects the screen to the main body of the phone is damaged due to sliding the phone open and closed. Surely they should sort this problem out if the main feature of the phone is to slide it open. Crap.
