Getting message telling me operating system not found

This is usually due to corrupted files on your hard drive or a problem with the cables connecting your hard drive to your computer. Try obtaining a software disc on your operating system and booting from it. This will give you repair options or an option to reinstall. There might also be a button you can press during the BIOS screen that will help repair or reinstall your OS. If this doesn't work, it is a problem inside your computer with the hardware.

When i cut on my machine a black screen comes on sayin cannot boot insert cd and press enter

Could be your hard drive. Make sure all connections are good. You should have a 2 little lights on the front of system case, one is your hard drive activity light, it should be red. See when you turn it on if it blinks. Take the side of the case and listen if the hard drive is spinning when you start the computer up.

Computer wont reboot

The issue is due to presents of earlier operating system files which are avoiding you to reinstall the os.
At this point I recommend you to clean the hard disk and then try for fresh installation. However, I am providing you the steps below:
Perform the steps provided in the below web site and then perform the Reinstall process

http://killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm

NOTE: The URL above will take you to a non HP Web site. HP does
not control and is not responsible for information outside
of the HP Web site.

After performing the complete format of Hard Drive, Reinstall the Windows XP.

To reinstall the operating system, follow the steps below:

1. Ensure that the CD-ROM is connected to the notebook.
2. Turn on the notebook.
3. Immediately insert the operating system CD into the CD drive.
4. Press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds to turn off the notebook.
5. Press the Power button again to start the notebook.
6. Press Esc key to boot from the CD when HP logo appears. Choose the first boot device as CD ROM and then click enter. The Welcome to Setup screen is displayed.
7. Press ENTER to continue. A Licensing Agreement screen is displayed.
8. Press F8 to accept the agreement and continue. The Setup window is displayed.
9. Press ESC to continue installing a fresh copy of the operating system without repairing.
10. Press ENTER to setup the operating system.
11. Press C to continue using this partition.
12. Select "Format the partition using the NTFS file system (Quick)", and then press ENTER. A caution message stating that formatting this drive will delete all current files, is displayed.
13. Press F to format the drive. The reinstallation process begins and may take several minutes to complete. Your Notebook will restart into Windows after the process is complete.

NOTE: When prompted for the product key, refer to the Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity located on the bottom of your
notebook.

I hope this information helps you. Please reply if I can help you further.

try refreshing. if that does not work connect Ur hdd to some other computer. If it shows up there then reinstall your operating system. In case it does not work there, check if your hdd requires a special driver to be installed. You can download the same from the company's web site.

My laptop will not connect to windows, just keeps rebooting

If the laptop keeps on rebooting, the only problem is the hard drive (HD). You need to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the Windows. The reason why this is happening is because Windows is corrupted due to some reason (most likely due to virus).

Have a great day!

The red power switch keeps flashing,, no picetc

The Red light is due to the HDD (hard drive).

There is one of 2 problems:
1. The connection is loose or
2. The HDD is just bad.

This was an issue that has been discussed over in the Playstation forums and it seems that re-seating
(removing & reinstalling) the HDD has solved the problem for many but some people have just
received bad hard drives period.

If you reinstall the HDD & it still beeps 3 times & gives you the red light, then you will have to replace
your HDD.

How do you replace the hard drive in a gateway dx 430s

It is a pretty simple process so long as you don't (or can't due to failure) want to keep the info on the existing hard drive. Once you open the case, there will probably be either 4 screws or some sort of plastic tray holding the hard drive in place. After removing those, the drive should just pull out - possibly from the front, but more likely inward. It only has two cables connected to it. Just connect them to th new drive (they can only be connected to the right places and in the right direction). Mount the new drive and proceed to reinstall the operating system using the recovery CD that came with the computer.

If you have a boot disk/cd, you can do a format of the hard disk. This will erase all data. You will, of course, have to reinstall the OS again..
