Hello Guys,Can you please help? can I replace the sub woofer on my sony home theatre system DAV-DZ231 with a Celestion sub woofer s10

Presumably, the Celestion subwoofer is self-powered in which case it would connect to an RCA subwoofer output on your Sony system if there is one.

The sound from my home stereo sounds muffled. I checked for loose wires but did not find any. I have Celestion 15 speakers - they are about fifteen years old.

Muffled sound? Like no treble? Wires wouldn't cause it. Could be bad tweeters.

More specific details re: electronics, source(s) might help.

Hi i have a pair of celestion k15t-200's i need to know the impedence on these bad boys also are they 200 watts max or r.m.s ? thanks

Hi, With Celestions, it will be the RMS rating. I have one of these and it has "8 Ohms" stamped on the edge of the dark grey edge of the magnet, in black ink, so barely visible. Check around the magnet for any signs of print, it may be faint. They wouldn't necessarily all be 8 ohms. An 8 ohm speaker should measure about 6ohms on a multimeter (as the rating is AC impedence and the meter measures DC resistance). A 4 ohm should measure about 3 on the meter.

Try spraying a bit of CRC226 on the reeds. It is available at Home Depot in the electrical dept. It is in a blue spray can... about $2.70. It is a very light silicone water displacer.

Tweeters poked to death

I know this sounds silly, but I had the same problem. Your speakers have a little plastic bulb that has been pushed in, right?

If so, simply put your mouth up to the tweeter, seal with your lips and **** gently (seriously). The tweeter dome should pop back out and in to shape.

It worked for me.

Good luck.

Celestion QXa 152 PA speakers

Well, if you can manage to open it and check for a "blown fuse" and change a good one... if it works ... you are lucky. I'll hope and pray that it's only the FUSE.

I would check the electroltyc caps in the power supply They general are in the first part of the power supply and there will be two of them . What they do is filter out transformer hum and help stabalize the circuit. I am not saying this is absolutely the problem but the capcitors are relatively inexpensive, Easy to change. And have a habit of going bad after a couple of years in use.
