SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V995 receiver turns on & then powers off 2 seconds late

I suggest you run self diag.  press [FM/AM] key + [Input mode] key and press the [power/standby] switch.

ps prt = power supply problem
dc prt = shorted output or leakly cap in channel
tmp prt means to hot on heatsink

you'll likely have to measure the resistances of the output FETs to find a short,

SOURCE: Yamaha receiver RX-V663

Make sure you have an analog RCA audio cable from the source to the receiver. Digital coaxial or optical will not work for zone 2 or zone 3. By adding an analog cable it will not affect your main zone, it will always go to digital first. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Yamaha rx-v456 av receiver, shut down with optica cable

Does it work without PS3 attached?
When receiver turns off, it is usually due to badly connected/configured speakers. Try powering on the receiver without speakers.

How to troubleshoot remote controll

Most Yamaha receivers have a remote ID so if you have more than one Yamaha you can control one without bothering the other, do you still have your owners manual? If not have you tried the people at Yamaha they are very helpful with a problem like this but for an example I have my Remote ID set at ID1 because I do have 2 Yamaha receivers the RX-V1300 and the RX-A3020, see if you can find the section in your manual that talks about remote IDs and let me know if that fixes the problem and you can always goto http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/ but that is the site for the United States they do have sites for many countries at http://www.yamaha.com/

Subwoofer

Without being able to access the receiver in person, the best advice I can give you is to sit down with your user manual and follow the instructions. You'll find, starting on page 85, the necessary settings for hooking up a subwoofer to the receiver. If you don't have the manual, you can obtain a pdf file at Yamaha.com: http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/Documents/YEC/AV_Receivers/Manual/RX-V663_U-1.pdf

You can reset the settings to factory defaults via the Advanced menu - it should be in your manual (I have RX-V465).
Do it from the standby mode.
Press the STANDBY button on front panel (not remote) together with STRAIGHT button on the front panel. Now you are in the Advanced Setup. Scroll to the INIT menu and select ALL.
Now you will have all settings in the default.

No volume in Zone 2

Get the original Yamaha remote, go to Set menu, manual setup, speaker setup, and look for "extra speaker." it needs to be set to "zone 2." This is off the top of my head, so it should be pretty accurate. Get used to doing this, though, as this amplifier assignment to zone 2 is prone to resetting itself in those Yamahas.
