Skip the installing of drivers and software. Simply buy a card reader/writer. This is a great way to get your pictures downloaded from the camera. Remove the card put it in a card reader, download the files to where you want them, then edit or view as you please.

It works with the 'mass storage device' driver which comes standard with windows since win98, so if your operating system supports this generic driver, then it should work. When plugged in and turned on, it will create a virtual drive to allow file copying.
