You need a service manual or rescue kit from http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com Simply cleaning the waste ink pads will not make the printer work again. You MUST reset the firmware counter to cancel the error code. The Service Manual Shop offer a rescue kit which includes everything you will need to sort your machine. Drop them a line or visit their web site. The task is quite easy and should take a ham fisted amateur about an hour. So you should be able to sort in about 30 minutes! Let us know how you get on.

Each time the cartridge is removed from the printer an "empty cartridge" message appears and a blinking amber light will come on, on the printer. Holding the paper feed button down for 3-5 sec. will allow you to override the counter.

Depress power button while plugging the canon pixma ip1000. When you depress the power button, the printer can be used even if the in waste absorber hasn't been replaced.
