Question about Washing Machines
I'm getting this error code on a washer I just purchased used. In the research I've done it appears to be related to a slow drain time, which could be the pump/lines or any number of things causing it to not drain. Well, I took the pump apart and there was gunk built up, put it back together and it worked for a few days, but now it's getting the error again. When I put a shop-vac to the drain line, it sucks the water out no problem, which is leading me to believe it's the pump, I just don't want to replace it with as pricey as it is, if there's another potential issue. Any thoughts?

what I have found is that the washer thinks it is not pumping out .. if your drain pump is clearly removing the all the water in a good time... then the problem is your pressure switch...it is telling the computer that it still has water in the machine...
replace the pressure switch and it will solve your f21 error.
It is a round unit on the right hand side on top...with a tube and wires going to it...let me know if it helps

SOURCE: Maytag Epic-Z F-28 error code
F28 is a misc error,
most of the time it is because the washer is NOT LEVEL.
1. Unplug waher,
2. Relevel washer. (make sure all legs are equally distributing weight, so as to ensure no shaking). See owner's manual.
3. Plug in, and use.
Hope this helps.

if this issue is because you hear water in the machine when the tub spins......
thats normal, its called the balance ring
centrifical force, pushes the water in the lid, outward helping to use the sling weight, as a counter balance
its 100 percent normal to hear sloshing when turning the tub by hand

code SD/5d means LONG DRAIN. This error appears when the drain time exceeds 8
minutes and the water valves turn off. After 4 minutes the "Sd" error
will be displayed, and then 4 minutes later the F21 error code will be
displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the display. Please Check the
drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. If the drain hose if fine
then unplug the washer and check the electrical connections at the pump and
make sure the pump is running. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
To access the drain pump and filter remove the front kick panel and trace the
drain hose to the bottom of the washer, drain pump would be located there. If
you are not able to access it, then replace the back panel as well. Plug in
washer or reconnect power. If the issue is still not resolved then you would
need to replace the drain pump. Hope this helps...please post
back for further assistance.
