Most times that is a defrost drain blockage behind the rear wall of your freezer back panel. Sometimes the door seals allow some moisture to accumulate if air is drawn in through the seals leaking or the door to the dispenser is stuck open. But when you say it has accumulated in a pool of ice on the bottom of the freezer then the drain is blocked. you may have a sticking water lever or a bad water valve.
the lever can be changed from the front and you should know if it sticks.
the water valve can be replaced from the rear of your unit. it is the plastic part where the water line hooks up to the unit.
