Question about Acer Aspire SA20 PC Desktop
This password is stored in the somewhere in the BIOS. It is backed up by a battery. If you can open the system cabinet, try this: Find a small coin shaped battery(button cell), remove from its socket carefully. Now short the socket leads with a srew driver or something metal-like. After a few minutes (5) put the battery back in position. Start the system....you will see some error meaasge .... Something like "CMOS Checksum bad Press F1 to continue" Press the F1 key. It will load default values & cintinue automatically. The password is gone. If something goes wrong come back here.

The password your sone has forgooton exists in a window set up only as long as it it operative. When a drive is formatted and the data expunged the password goes with it. Reinstalling windows and you need to create a new password if you feel that need at all. The Monther board has not password need via the Bios unless you choose to create one. It youignore the request for a pss word and it keeps coming back - think up a new one.

OK, if you are running Windows 7, Microsoft tightened
security on it so you've got to have a password reset disk which 99% of the
people who own laptops with windows 7 fail to do. It should be one of the
first things you do when you buy the laptop. Otherwise, you're faced with
reinstalling the Operating System or possibly doing a System Recovery.
If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:
Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Mode option. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When it gets to the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid and the userid for which you forgot the password. Sign in as the Administrator (hopefully you didn't put a password on it and forgot it too). Once the desktop appears it will look different, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, but this is normal for safe mode.
Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts
When the User Accounts screen opens, click on the userid for which you forgot the password. Select the option to REMOVE PASSWORD.
Reboot your machine.
