    hi sneezing7

i did a google search for a 1210 service manual, traced the circuit from the pop up light to the power supply input and did a simple voltage test on the way at each component.

when i got to transistor Q2 the power went in to the collector but didnt come out of the emmiter.

i did a continuity test across the collector and emitter and the turntable strobe lit up.

i got a replacement transistor from the uk for £0.80.

i hope this helps you out.

    hi again

its likely your fault is inside the pop up light housing or a faulty bulb.

if your not to bothered about the light just unplug it(as you look at the circuit board its the plug furthermost from you) or replace the bulb or buy a new housing complete with bulb from ebay for about £6.00.

my fault came from over use i think, the wires just got worn out due to the pop up light coming up too far!

    i hope this helps.

Hi Darren,

Out of curiosity, how did you find out it was this part at fault?

My deck has just had the same thing happen to it :(. Unfortunately turntables are not popular in Cyprus, so it looks like I have to diy it.

Thanks for that. Ended up having the same problem!

After replacing the 2 transistors, I still keep blowing them every time I turn on the pop up light. Obviously there is a short somewhere. Did this happen to you as well? Any hints where I can look for the short?

My step son has a 96 S10 he replaced the pump a week ago, drove fine. after parking at the store it's popping fuses right and left? Anyhelp as always will be appreciated thanks Dave

Start looking for a short to ground. Check by noise (popping, sizzling), sight, (sparking) and feel-( a shorted wire may feel hot).
Check the engine compartment, especially around hot exhaust parts, under the car (see any loose wires?), and under the dash-listen and look.
You will need to identify the fuses, so as to know which circuit to check-or circuits if multiple fuses. Figure out what is common to all the blown fuses. Maybe the previous work of replacing the pump got some wires snagged or mashed and causing the shorts.

How to fix back lights that will nnot stay on

There is obviously a short to ground. The wire that supplies power to the lights is making contact with ground(gnd) causing the fuses to pop. Two ways to check. One is to physically trace the wire(s) to locate a broken or burnt wire. And the second way, though not recommended is to use a stronger fuse, turn lights on, and look for the smoke-where usually the short circuit is. Good luck.

RCA DVD Home Theater System popping noise now wont turn on

if no any power indicator the first place to be check is the power supply where in the fuse get blow. if the fuse blown with darkened color that was mean has shortened line, might the amplifier circuit get damaged that cause of popping before it totally down.check for bad amplifier ic and shorted diodes.

Had a radio installed it flicks or pops frm time to time but this maybe causing my fuse to pop and my car wont start. Had put a relay switch on about a month ago.helppp

If there is popping sound and the fuse blows when the radio is flickering, then it is usually a short in the stereo wiring. The short results in excessive power draw and blows the main fuse. The radio must be removed to check the wiring behind. In some less common case the radio itself may be shorted inside becuse a defective PSU. If you have installed an amplifier check also that the problem is not the amplifier ordinary power draw, in that case the problem is fixed installing a capacitor in the amplifier power wiring.

Television has no power. it made a pop and the screen went black resulting in no power to the television.

If there is no light on the front then the pop sound could well be a fuse blowing in the power supply. You could try removing the rear cover & check if any of the fuses have blown. If they have I would think the likely hood of it blowing again straight away is quite possible as usually the fuse will go due to a short circuited component on the PCB. If you have had any recent disruptions with your electric supply this can cause the fuse to pop & replacing it will solve the problem. If this is not the case then the best thing would be to contact your dealer to arrange a service repair.

You know whats connected to the fuse, now start systematically disconnect each component and each time you try the fuse same fault, reconnect, till you ge t to the component which you disconnect and do not blow the fuse, now you know it is in that component start tracing the wires/bulb connections. , have 10 spare fuses ready'

No power to washing machine

If this machine is totally dead and it tripped your home electrics - (which is probably a 30amp fuse) means that it is likely a serious fault in the machine. :-(

Washing machines take out ring main fuses if there are faults in the washers heater unit, motor or suppressor. Also water may have breached a seal somewhere and cause a short inside the electrical compartments. The flash you saw was probably some sensitive electronics and any smaller internal fuse popping. It is possible that simply replacing internal fuse will result in doing more damage once power is restored.

To fix a fusing washing machine you have to use a diagnostic electrical meter that puts high voltage across the appliance - Not something I can offer more info on. So whatever has happened (and in the interest of safety) you would probably want a qualified proffessional to take a look or as a last resort a hotpoint engineer!

Kind Regards
