SOURCE: Ceiling fan does not run.

Both from measures you describe which are correct and also the smell of overheated and also the replacing of the capacitor indicate a motor winding burn. This is normal only of an age of 3-4 and more, long time of continuasly working and high ambient temperatures.
If all the above are correct then you can sound normal. Some place they rewind motor for you fan but we don't advice it. We beleive a fan replacement is a wise idea but remeber that all manufactures recoment not use the high speed for long periods and especialy on very high ambient temperatures

Wiring diagram for a 3 way ceiling pull switch.

These fans are manufactured by a number of overseas companies and sold exclusively by Home Depot. They do not have a standard color code for the fan switch. What you can do is turn off the power, keep the white neutral connected. Then using the black power wire fro the ceiling, take one of the switch wires and connect to that black, turn the power on and observe the speed .. low mark it 1, medium mark it 2, high mark it 3. Repeat untill you have identified all the speed wires. Then connect these wires to the 1,2,3, terminations of your new switch

I have an Aloha Breeze L-Style 52" Ceiling Fan(Polished Brass), Model # 29079 Bought From Wal-Mart about 1 1/2 years ago and the fan speed switch busted and the capacitor melted. I have a new switch but can't find a new capacitor because I can't read the spec info. Looking for a place to obtain the correct capacitor for this fan so I can make necessary repairs!

Your voltage is probably too low, probably a bad wire or source. Let me know if it worked.

Breeze ceiling fan not working

We were able to get 3 fans running again by replacing the capacitor which had melted in all 3 fans. On one of the fan's the casing around the motor was extremely hot, which prompted us to act quickly. I suppose the fan had been trying to start itself. We purchased the capacitors at an electrical supplier at a cost of $15 each. We were not able to locate the type of capacitors which came with the fan. I am now looking for replacement capacitors at a lower cost if possible. Does anyoe have suggestions of a reputable online dealer for capacitors at a reasonable cost? I would like to keep some on hand.
