How would I determine which Remote Control would work with my HP G71T-499WM laptop computer?

it depends on what software you are using. usually ( if your using windows) you can find the remote assistance option in the control panel.

To disable remote assistance connections to your PC

take out batteries of your remote control and clean the surface of batteries place with any cleaner solution and if its not work ...then open the cover of remote control and clean any cleaner ..and left them for dry .at least 15 mint.

try reseting the router your hooked up to.

First I would check both the battery and the ac adapter with a multi-meter. If this does not solve the problem I would check the connection where the power plugs into the computer. If everything is tight and secure (no loose connections), I would say the machine will need to be opened up to inspect and test the internal components. Good luck!! There is no option for turning ON or OFF for the remote control.

Change the batteries of the remote control and check.

If it is not working, then you may need to purchase HP Remote control.

you can turn off the IR on the laptop or put black tape over it!

The remote control which ship along HP notebook works with only Windows Media Center ..... all you need to launch Windows Media Center application and use the remote to control on notebook, hope this help u.
