If there was a film in the camera and you opened the back, all the pictures you took got burned. You need to rewind the film take it out, put a new one in and try to turn on the camera. err should be gone.

My digicam won't start

There could be a couple of reasons why your camera would not start.

Before considering it to be defective, verify that the camera has batteries inside and that these batteries are charged. To do this:

  1. Locate and open the battery compartment.
  2. Identify the type of batteries needed and purchase new ones OR
  3. Recharge the batteries with the recharger provided.
  4. Place the new/charged batteries inside, closing the battery compartment.
  5. Try to turn on the camera.
If the camera still doesn't work after verifying that the batteries are in order, remove the memory card and any other accessories that the camera may have and try turning it on again.

If still the camera won't turn on, one last step can be performed if and only if your camera uses standard batteries (AA or AAA). If this step is performed incorrectly, you could short circuit the batteries, which would discharge them. This procedure will not damage the camera if performed correctly. Please pay attention and do exactly as explained:
  1. Locate and open the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the batteries.
  3. Place the batteries back inside in the opposite direction than the one indicated. If the position indicated is for the positive end first, place the battery with the negative end first. Do this process for all the batteries.
  4. Close the battery compartment.
  5. Attempt to turn on the camera. It will not turn on, but this step is necessary nonetheless.
  6. Open the battery compartment.
  7. Remove the batteries.
  8. Place the batteries in the correct position according to the indication.
  9. Close the battery compartment.
  10. Attempt to turn on the camera.
If the camera still does not work, it is likely that it is defective. At this point you should take the camera to an authorized service center.

Camera will not take pictures and I can not see anything thru

Found this on another web site. Worked for me
Turn the camera on in shooting mode.
Turn the mode selector to shutter priority (“Tv”).
Use the four-way button on the back to set the shutter speed to 15 seconds.
Press the shutter release. Count to seven, then pop open the battery compartment. (I discovered that the camera will beep when you do this.)
Wait several seconds, then close the battery compartment.
You may need to repeat the above sequence several times to unstick the iris. If that does not accomplish it, you will likely have to send the camera in for repair.

DSLR do not power on

It's almost impossible to accurately troubleshoot a "dead" camera without seeing it, but your problem could be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced or the camera may require professional repair.

Camera wont turn on, has Fresh batteries

Had the same problem, replaced the regular Alkaline batteries with NiMH rechargeables and it works. Must be something in the in camera battery settings. It still wont work with regular alkalines. Go Figure.

Kodak easy share digital camera

I have a kodak cx7430 that one day just wouldn't come on properly. All I got was a red light, no matter what batteries I tried. So I began to wonder if this was a ploy of Kodak's to get people to buy new cameras...I don't know if that's true, but I did find a little switch in the battery compartment that was open. I noticed I could close the switch with a pen tip, but it wouldn't stay closed, so I taped it closed with a piece of electrical tape...and guess what...THE CAMERA NOW WORKS PERFECTLY.

I don't know if this is true, but I heavily suspect that this switch opens after X amount of use... because I know 2 other people who's cameras have done the same thing...sooner with heavy use and longer with light use.... LOOK FOR THE SWITCH, TAPE IT AND TRY IT! Email me if it works for you admin@durhamdirectory.com

Sony DSC-S500

you are right it has defective mechanism,  a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.
