Either will work, although shape somewhat matters, what is most important is surface area of silver given the amount of current used for electrolysis. Higher current needs more surface area for proper results. Do note that most of what you will have produced is ionic silver solution and not colloidal metallic silver nanoparticles if done at room temperature and no reducing agent. I.e. thin silver wire will need less current for good result and silver 1 oz. Coin can take more current and work faster for same solution volume.

You can't make colloidal silver. It has to be silver that a plant adsorbs into it's cells through it's roots. It must have been very very small to be dissolved in water to be incorporated into the plant. Later you can harvest the plant and sort out the silver if you know chemistry. All other methods are a hoax. Don't buy equipment with those claims.
