Look for chipped paint or arcing inside the oven If all is ok then this is worth repairing. Usually the magnetron needs replacing. If the fuse goes then it's also time to replace the big capacitor inside.

More than likely the Magnetron is bad, causing the transformer to over heat. Or it could just be the transformer going bad. Either way not a good situation. Both are expensive.

My Kitchenaid combo convection/mw works on convect but has a loud humming and no heat on microwave.


A loud humming noise in microwave mode will usually be a shorted high voltage diode or bad magnetron.

My microwave made a loud "pop"and now hums loudly


Since the microwave is humming, that tells me that the diode is bad and needs to be replaced.

GE Microwave making loud humming noise


humming sound is your magneto going out Dont have any idea of the cost for replacement however it may be cheaper to purchase another microwave than to repair this one. Good Luck

When turn on loud hum


Hi, this will happen when the motor become unstable. unfortunately, it isn't a failed component and, the motor will continue to operate in this situation with no defects. its just poor ,manufacturing within the motor design. you can purchase another motor and it will kill the hum.

Loud humming noise when in use


We had this problem with a new GE microwave in our last home. GE service replaced fan assy,.AND added rubber foam around the motor, Loud hum was reduced,but never did completely go away. We learned to live with it/
