Question about Philips 50PFP5332D 50 in. Plasma Television
After doing some research online for black lines on a plasma tv i see that the cause on some was a loose connector inside the tv

Testimonial: "Thanks for the fast reply... I'll check all the connection again. Just a note, some of my research I found is that some people just had a bad IC on their Y buffer board(s) and either figured out which one and replaced it or they just replaced the one or both Y buffer boards. I'm just trying to get hard facts IF it is the Y board(s). lol... hate to spend money on boards and that wouldn't be the problem."

Ok did this happen the first time u turn on the TV. ? If so u might have a ribbon cable disconnect from the logic or u might have a defective Plasma panel. If u have a defect like your describing the IC's on the panel short out and no longer work causing that section of the screen not to function. Only fix then is replace panel

Try the following first:
If you are using a direct cable connection from the wall outlet;
If it still does not work, it looks like there is a problem with the vertical blanking due to faulty ribbon connectors, although there are several things that can cause it.
But in my honest opinion, it is best to have an expert technician come in and do some tests on it in order to diagnose the root cause of the issue. It is not easy to fix this yourself, if you have no experience, as there are a lot of parts that have to be removed before you can reach the components. It could be as simple as a loose connector ribbon or a bust capacitor, but it could also be more complicated. Hence, in my honest opinion, better get a qualified technician.
