Question about Dell OptiPlex Computers & Internet
Hello, I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 desktop running XP. I bought a sound card to replace the integrated sound. The model of the card is the HT Claro II. I am using it with amplified stereo speakers. I installed the new card into the PCI slot, downloaded the latest drivers from website, and also disabled the sound in the bios. The problem is the volume is very low. At max volume, the sound is only at maybe 20% of the levels prior to the new card. I checked all player controls to make sure it was set to max volume. What can be the problem? Is there anything I missed?
I would remove the new card, and recheck vol. Next, change PCI slots. Pick up a cheap audio card and see how works. Good, luck

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

You just have to look for a "low-profile" PCI card. Creative makes one, Audigy SE SB0570LPVP
Search that for a vendor, or low-profile for other manufacturers.

Do you know the motherboard mfg?
if it something other than the Dell then you can get the drivers.
USB drivers are mostly generic and are available at Microsoft. there is an application called "Driver Detective" and they are good. They check the computer and get everything you need.

Yes, that is correct. in some cases I have also seen that in BIOS you have to define primary video device ie PCIe or AGP backj in days. Something to keep in mind just in case AUTO doesn't do the trick for you.
WARNING: if you can't figure out what to do in BIOS "DO NOT" simply it disable in windows and expect the new card to automatically work, i have see people endup reinstalling because of that one mistake.
Hope this helps, let me know if you any other questions
