Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

1 Answer

I got an inexpensive used HP Color Laserjet 2600n that needs a new ETB belt as it's putting vertical stripes on the pages. Do I have to purchase the whole assembly or can I get just the belt. Also, where's the best place to purchase? Thanks!

These are the stripes I was referring to...please correct me if I'm wrong about the cause.

You have to buy the complete transfer belt assembly. I used to buy mine from express terminals but haven't used them for a few years, I would buy oem a lot cheaper and work just as good.

Testimonial: "Hi Tim...I appreciate your attempt to help, but I would offer 2 suggestions: 1. Include a link to the supplier or a better way to identify them. A search turned up nothing that seemed to match and www.expressterminals.com didn't work out either. 2. I think you meant 'compatible' rather than 'OEM' which stands for 'Original Equipment Manufacturer' which would generally be the more expensive products."

So I noticed that the cyan toner cartridge has stripes on the OPC drum exactly corresponding to the (slightly greenish) stripes I'm getting on the print jobs. Although the transfer belt looks a little beat up, I'm starting to surmise that the belt isn't the reason for the stripes. Can anyone speak to these thoughts?

  • TimmyQMS Oct 21, 2013

By looking at the pic, it looks like you need to replace the cyan drum as you say they line up with the marks on the drum. i find if the belt is faulty its normally the cleaning blade on the assembly and would leave all color streaking not one color. with regards to last comment i have not used express terminal in years so not sure if still in business and yes sorry i did mean compatible i hope this has helped.

SOURCE: What is the best way to clean the transfer roller

dont clean, unless glued up, but they dont like it, can spot remove stuff with metho, but they last about 60000 pages cause little problems unless torn, Some models just unclick by buttons either side near hinge others are fixed and normally thrown if damaged or charged heaps.... Most faults are alignment issue, faulty remanufacture cartridges or damaged fuser (hot bit) roller causing creasing..

Error 59.9 after cleaning a HP 2600n

59 errors have something to do with the ETB(electronics transfer belt).
Try reseating the belt, see if that doesn't fix your problem.
When was the last time that the ETB was replaced?

Cant get the hinge installed so that the toners open and close as you open and close the door.... HELP!!

I got a feeling that the ETB isn't seated correctly.
The ETB is that big mylar belt that lowers with the front door.
Pull the ETB out and check that both black plastic sockets are in the down position.
Now reinsert the ETB making sure that it sits in those black sockets, one on either side.

Is there something I can clean on my HP Laserjet 2600n. I've done the recalibration and things that are built into the menu system. The colors appear faded, especially red. There's an echo-type of...

Using the REPORTS MENU print the "color supplies status". Make sure everything is good.
Select SYSTEM SETUP. Select PRINT QUALITY. Select CALIBRATE COLOR. Select CALIBRATE NOW.
Check the Transfer Belt(ETB) which is inside the front door. Make sure that it is free of your "racing stripes".
You can use HP TOOLBOX to troubleshoot.
You are using HP cartridges???

I am experiencing some "shadowing" when I print a document

The problem most like resides in the ETB or electronic transfer belt....The image is not being removed from the belt to the paper causing shadowing effect...you need to replace the ETB. Try www.getthatpart.com they have great units at great prices and have someone on the phone you can talk to. If you feel its not the ETB and you don't see any toner left on the belt call these guys up and they can help you futher

We have a HP Color Laserjet 2600N and I am getting lighter impressions down the left side of printing... do you know what causes this, and what I can do to resolve it? I am unable to find an answer on HP's...

I would recommend before ordering the transfer kit to clean the Transfer Belt
To clean the ETB, use the following procedure:
- Enter the Secondary service menu.
- Scroll through the menu and select CLEAN ETB.
- Press the(SELECT) button to start the cleaning mode

- if issue perists, send something to be printed and before it comes out, open up the front cover to stop the printing process, take out the page from the cartdridge area
- if the issue is noticeable on the top of the page but not on the bottom, the problem is with the fusing assembly
- if the issue is noticeable on the top of the page and on the bottom, the problem is with the transfer belt or one of the toner cartdridges

How to exchange the ETB unit (belt) on a HP Colorlaserjet 2600n?

To replace the ETB Belt.. follow this step..but it would be easier if I can show u the diagram.. I will figure a way to upload. but let see if u understand here...
ETB removal and replacement
Use the following procedure to remove the ETB (RM1–1881–000CN).
1. Remove or slightly pull out Tray 2 (RM1–1916–000CN).
2. Remove three (3) screws, two (2) from the right cover assembly and one (1) from the left cover
assembly.
3. Open the front door.
4. Remove the right cover (RM1–1858–000CN), carefully twisting the front edges of the side covers
outward to remove.
NOTE : To make the removal of the right cover assembly easier, release the tab on the
inside of the cover.
5. Remove the left cover.
6. Squeeze the white link lever on the left side.
7. Remove the screw on the right white plastic catch, and then remove the plastic catch.
8. Close the ETB.
9. Remove the small black cable cover (RC1–5147–000CN) on the left side of the printer by
carefully snapping it out of place.
10. Remove one (1) grounding screw from the ETB harness.
11. Pull out the white wire holder by pushing it up.
12. Pull out the ETB connector.
13. Remove one (1) screw from each hinge cam on both sides.
14. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the hinge left cam (RC1–4249–000CN) and the right hinge
cam (RC1–5311–000CN).
15. Remove the ETB.

Use the following procedure to replace the ETB.
1. Align each foot of the ETB with the respective holes, securing the right side first, and then the left
side.
2. Complete replacement by following steps 1 through 14 above in reverse order.
NOTE : When replacing the right cover, align the tabs on the upper edge of the right cover
and lower edge of the face-down cover with their respective slots.

Color ink on transfer belt

I posted the problem on 4/6/09 about my HP Laserjet 2600n with the black line from top to bottom on all pages. The issues ended up being with one of the toner cartridges. I replaced them all - and the line went away! I will need to go back now and find out which one it was, and then I'll toss that one, and I will keep / reuse the others.
