F your zero adjustment won't turn far enough for proper meter reading then the measurement electrode has "lost it's span" and will require a severe chemical cleaning (i use gentle heated muratic acid followed by a water boil allow to cool off before using ) or replacement if spec model allows for this , Note: heated acid is extremly dangerous and corrosive and you should use all possible safety precautions when using it

I have an Stihl FS-86 weedeater/ trimmer and it keeps cutting off when i pull the trigger and when it runs for about an hour and gets hot. What could be the problem with it?

I'm pretty sure that there is a problem with the carb., with it being a FS-86 it should be old enough to still have adjustments on the carb. if so I'd start by turning the low (L) side needle out (counter clockwise) about 1/8 turn and see if that helps. If the carb. has no adjustment or only hi (H) then I would change the metering diaphragm on the metering side of carb.. As far as a timing issue it's not, unless there is a problem with the flywheel. on a 2-cycle string trimmer the timing is set were they have the flywheel keyed to the shaft and is non adjustable.

How do i adjust my idle crew

The idle screw isn't as important as the low/high setting on the carb. Start with one turn out on both low and high side settings.

ECHO SRM 2100 GRASS TRIMMER HAS NO POWER

For all others with String trimmers, blowers and other 2 stroke style engines...
If no power on high, tends to bog, won't run once choke off, check these:
  • Fuel Filter - It's IN the Gas tank; Just replace it
  • Spark Arrestor at Muffler, it's a screen that tends to clog up and causes very restricted exhaust flow
  • Spark Plug - again just replace it
  • Carburetor, clean or install rebuild kit
  • And adjust sorta hidden High/Low carburetor adjustment screws
Take a look here...

Could be blocked spark arrestor or carboned up in the exhaust port.

sounds like a carb problem You will have to take the carb off and strip it down to parts clean out all the ports with a good cleaner I use brake clean reassemble and reset the High speed and low speed jets at 1.5 turns out then adjust from there

Ryobi trimmer runs but does not have enough power. How do i adjust or increase power

If the trimmer is indeed electric, then there is no power adjustment capability. The problem you are seeing is the result of a weak battery.

Weed eater bogs down when i try to give it full throttle, won,t get up enough speed and torque to trim grass. i tried new gas, spark plug, and still doesn,t help.

have to adjust the high on the carb. should have, 3 screws, 2 that are together is your h for high, and L for low. the one by itself is for idle. when mackine is running, squeeze throttle and adjust the high til it clears up, if it stalls real fast, back counter clockwise while off, and try to restart it, if worse, go the other way. i do mine by 1/4 turns. keep count of turns in case your going the wrong way! hope this helps!

Unable to adjust carburetor after overhauling, engine idle

most modern carbies have fixed jets.some you can pry off the caps and adjust, but usually if you need to adjust carbie, youve got other problems.stale fuel, not enough compression, vaccuum leak, spark plug faulty[oiled up]carb gaskets letting in air, needle valve adjustment causing diapragm to not open it enough.used the wrong gaskets in the kit[sometimes they have different model gaskets in one kit

Want to adjust trimmer so i give a better outline i just bought new blades, not sharp enough

Sometimes the new blades are not sharpen enough, You need to have it resharpen by a professional and adjust to the type of work you want it to do. Also sometimes even if you have the blade resharpen it will not cut, because the trimmer motor needs more power to move the blade side to side faster. On and the Andis GTO T-outliner trimmer this the most comm problem. Try Mannys Sharpening
