Its pretty easy to open the top and fill the reservoir with water up to the level needed (i.e. 4 cups). Then press the ON button to start the brewing process. Make sure you fill the filter with ground coffee.

I don't know much about this unit, but there might be a rubber seal in head where the porta filter locks in to. It is possible that this seal is either damaged or just corrupted with grounds. Try cleaning it out and or checking the seal for damage.

I believe based on symptoms you described, that it is most likely just a good descaling cleaning it needs, try using CLR, OR some vinegar and water, run this through machine a few times, you can even use denture cleaner. I don't think it is your pump based on your symptoms.

This can occur with the use of finer ground coffee or use of soft water, filtered water, or bottled water. If you will call 800-352-2866 with the model and date code, we can send you a flow restrictor sprayhead which will alleviate this problem.

My Bialetti mukka expresso maker won t push coffee into the top chamber the pressure valve pops up but the coffee doesn't come out.

hey, it might be congested - this happens sometimes when coffee grounds get stuck in any part after a while - take the whole thing apart, including the gasket and filter and scrub everything out, then do a water run (no coffee) just to clear the thing up.

The problem might also be with coffee ground stuck in the pressure valve nozzle. Run water through it to see if it spurts out to check if there's any obstruction.

To get rid of the stuck ground in the nozzle, i once used a piece of dental floss twisted to reach within the nozzle.

hope this works for you!

Water on top of the filter after brewing

my experience with this machine is that this varies greatly with the type of beans you use. I would experiment with a few types of beans, roasts, and you might get lucky.

Cafe Roma Expresso/Cappucino machine

My understanding is that this is normal with units like the ESP8XL which use a pressurized portafilter. Non-pressurized units will leave a dry puck of used grounds.

Espresso side

Hi. Was searching around and you can actually go to the krups website( and download the appropriate manual for your coffemaker. Its best to know the model number as well as the model name. On the Bistro, the coffee maker side should be on the left and the expresso side on the right. on top of the coffee maker on the right side is a screw on top(black in color depending on year of model). Simply unscrew and fill with water to recommended lvl. I would download the instructions first and become familiar with the process as it heats up the water to extremely high pressure and heat. Good luck..J
