Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Sony Bravia 40", model number KDL -40EX400. I just had it repaired about half a month ago for something concerning it's "input", and now it just sits here on the wall, dead. It shows no sign of life, no lights, no sign of heat on the TV and it won't turn on or even show any lights. Literally 20 minutes ago, the tv worked well and was running normally. Me and a few others took it down to put up a wall mount for it, and than set it back up, plugged it in to the same port it was in before, and it doesn't work. It has nothing to do with the wall mount as we didn't hit any wires or power, but something with the TV because all other electrical appliances connected to that same port work. Some assistance please? Thanks!

Check the power cord. You may have damaged the wire, plug or connection at the TV during your relocation!

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Sony kdl-46xbr4 Black Horizontal Bands When I First Turn on TV

I had the exact same problem with the Sony KDL46XBR4. The problem started 11 months after I purchased the TV (Dec 2007). Luckily I placed the call to Sony just before the 1 year warranty expired and they replaced the entire front panel which is basically the whole TV except for the stand and the plastic frame. Last month the same issue started happening again (5 months since the repair). I called Sony and they say they have a 90 day warranty on the replacement part so I would need to pay out of my own pocket to first have the problem diagnosed (it's the EXACT same problem!) and then pay to have the repair done since the warranty has expired. I asked how much the front panel costs and it's $1,400! I paid $2,100 for the TV when I purchased it. Interestingly, at the time that part was back-ordered.....hmmmm, I wonder why??? Perhaps a recall is warranted here (no pun intended). Needless to say, I have sworn off Sony products due to their lack of support for this issue.

Will the power supply cord for sony bravia KDL 40ex500 work on 40ex400?

Usually manufacturers use as many standardized components as possible to reduce costs so it is highly probable that the power cord on both a 40 & 50 inch sony tv in the same series is identical.

My Sony BRAVIA KDL-40EX400 will not turn on.

IIC bus clock and/or data lines low at power on 06. This is the fault, according to the blinking codes given by Sony LCD TVs. That is, the fault lies within the main digital board. To locate the exact fault point to these type of fault, is actually a skilled one. If you wish to get more details to this fault, check the link sited here.http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It has details about these blinking codes. Before proceed, once again count and make confirm the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON. Pull up older posts by this link at its left side bar.

Sony bravia kdl-40s2010 top half of screen is fading

Most sets use two boards (each drives the image on half the screen) some combine both into a single larger board but if a even half of the screen is doing something the other half is not that is where the problem likely is.

Different makers use different names for this like T-Con or Y out etc.

You if interested might Google the model number with "parts" which may provide you a list of the boards in this set along with prices in some cases.

My Bravia KDL-40S4100 lost all 3 of it's HDMI

There is a problem with the processor. The only way to resolve this issue is to replace the main board. It is called the A board in your TV.

There are two for this model and the correct one will depend on what your serial number is.

Part numbers are as follows:
part # 185709211 for Serial #
1,000,001 - 1,350,000
1,700,001 - 1,750,000
1,800,001 - 1,804,270
1,804,271 - 1,818,372
1,818,373 - 1,830,000
list price: $504.87 core charge: $680.00

part # 185709231 for all other serial numbers
list price: $505.87 core charge: $600.00

Are you connected to a cable box or satalite rcvr using compoment outputs (y,pr,pb)? It is posible that the red cable has come loose and picture has no red, causing a mostly blue picture.
