Owner doesn't know the passwords. At power on, it has two icons, 1 is on top of a can like icon, and the other is a padlock. Because I don't know the password, I hit the F1 after I power on and the thinkpad log appears. I saw two errors 271 and 182 bad CRC2. Is there hope of restoring this thinkpad to working condition or should I dump it?

You will probably see a list of WiFi access points (routers), most of which will be displayed with a padlock icon. These are *secured* routers to which you must log on with the correct password. Getting the password would mean contacting the owner or administrator of the router and asking them what it is.

This might be possible for the more public of the WiFi routers such as hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. but most of what you'll likely see on the Kindle are privately owned routers so you'll have no idea who to ask and it's unlikely they'd share anyway.

Tap the settings icon that looks like a gear in the top right corner of the screen and there should be an option to lock and unlock the screen orientation.

The term "unlocking" when it comes to iPad means either having a password to access the device, or a process to access and change the underlying operating system. The padlock icon doesn't have anything to do with WiFi. Also, if you cannot connect to WiFi, you cannot get to Facebook, Google, or anywhere else on the Internet, in the same way that if you car wont' start, you can't go to work or your buddy's house. Your root problem isn't that your car won't go to your friend's house, it's that it won't start. SO, please re-ask the question with specifics of your root problem, which is you can't connect to WiFi. Do you know the password for your WiFi router? Can you see it listed in the wireless networks? Do you not know how to connect to WiFi in the first place?

How to Delete Web Page Links on the iPad

It sounds like you're in range of a wifi signal, but haven't chosen which network you want your tablet to jump onto. Head over to your settings panel (swipe down from the top, then tap the little cog icon). From settings, make sure you're in the "Wireless and network" tab. Make sure your wifi is turned on (with the green bar below it). To the right, there should be a list of wifi networks you can join. If there's one that has a little padlock icon on it, it means it requires a password (are you at a restaurant or friend's house? - ask them for the wifi password). If it doesn't have the padlock, it's an open network. Does this help?

To remove/delete an app from your iPad, do the following:

1. Press the icon for the app until all icons start to wiggle. Note, press and hold your finger down, don't just tap it.
2. When the icons start to wiggle, a small X will appear in the top-left corner of all app icons. Tap the X and you will get see a prompt asking you to verify that you want to delete the app.
3. Click "Delete" and the app will be removed.

Note: The deleted app will remain in your purchase history in the event that you ever want to re-install it.
